There's lots of nice moments throught the VWP, but the one shot I really wish had been in the film proper is the slow tilt down to Kane lying on the biobed after they take him back to the ship.  Stripped of spacesuit, but still wearing his helmet with the facehugger nestled in the faceplate.  There's just something about that shot I like.

Nice find on those youtube vids, SiL! (+)

I knew about this for some time, but I didn't know it had so much added stuff. They must have culled so many different sources to get all of this footage. Really quite impressive, I really want it now.

I hate rapidshare. I am not going to pay for their service, and using the free account to DL DVDs takes weeks to a month, possibly more because of how much they limit you from downloading stuff. Like 100mbs every 2 or 3 hours or something. I DLed one fanedit (Hannibal Extended) that way and it was a stressful few days, constantly going on there and checking to see if I could get the next part. I don't want to go through that again, it was like DLing took over my entire life.

I have never seen the alien taking Brett to the airlock. Maybe the light doesn't let me see it.

Feel free to put it up anyway, Hicks. Be a nice exclusive feature for the site.

Can do! I agree.

I'll also sticky this thread so it's always available.

w00t, sticky!

How come we still don't see the Alien take Brett up skywards, I mean you see a brief second but not the whole thing like on Alien Quadrilogy??
The full shot's in the Redux.

I think most of that footage on the Quad set is from 8mm home movies shot on the set.

Shouldn't the alarm not be going off? Wasn't this scene originally placed BEFORE Ripley sets the self-destruct?

To the screenplay!

...

Yes.

But not in the Redux. I can't see where it'd fit before Rips sets the ship. That's how it is in the DC, too - She sets the ship, then finds him.

I know it's there in the DC, but shouldn't it be where it is in the script for the Virtual Workprint? Maybe this is a question to ask the editor, though.

Both in Walter/Giler's and Dan's scripts it takes place just before the self destruct.

I don't know why it is placed after, even Ridley Scott did that mistake. Had it been put before it wouldn't ruin the pace.

But I think it was filmed to be after because of the lights and even Skerrit said it was in the middle of Ripley's escape.

It can fit between the ship self destruct and Parker and Lambert's deaths, just needs the alarm sound removed and the shot of Ripley descending the stairs with the light.

I could be wrong, but I think the shot of her coming down the ladder with the light is a grab from elsewhere. I don't recall that shot being in the 20th Anniversary DVD version of the scene...
