Allegedly there are no plans for an AvP2 from Fox. Anderson got the alleged go-ahead to write a script for Fox for an Alien 6 (or 5 if you don"t include AvP). But there"s been nothing on this since. The only definite statement I know of is that Cameron is not part of any future Alien film after his AvP tantrum. Quite rightly, IMHO. "

Unless the entire film industry bucks the current trend, then I"d think that this is the only future for the Alien series. Name the last time a studio spent money on something which contained adult interest (and I"m not talking about tit shots and gore - that"s purely for adolescents)... "

I wish Cameron would come back. I don"t blame him for not wanting to put a movie out after what Anderson came up with. I just wish some descent people were writing/directing it. I mean I enjoyed AvP but it as just lacking so much

"Posted at AvP Outbreak on 06.12.2004 at 22:43:25 I know what you mean I"m still amazed Aliens was ALL visual effects, no CGI or anything. Also what makes me love Aliens is the bloopers. Everyone knows them, no one has a problem with them and nothing has been changed for the Quad or 25th Anniversary set. Aliens is Aliens "

movies made for *grown ups* and had money spent on them. Blade is voilent and has money spent on it. Matrix, well that was a revolutionry movie with a decent budget. Obviously the sequels had huge budgets but were no where near as good. "

Chronicles of Riddick is a kids film. Blade and Blade 2 are movies made for teenagers. While I"m a great fan of Blade, I fully admit there there is no adult content in there at all. I"d really like to be disproved on this, though. The Matrix is another film made for teenagers. There are no adult concepts brought into play whatsoever. The "philosophical issues" were laughable - they spent what felt like hours grappling with the simplest concepts and came to no conclusions. There are glimpses of the screenplay working towards complexities, but that"s all they were. Quite frankly, I felt offended by the childish nature of the "intelligent" bits of the film. You"re missing the point: it"s not SF, or SF/Horror, or Horror where the studios aren"t plunging money into making something for adults: it"s everything. In the last decade I"ve watched the standards fall lower and lower in Hollywood. Films which an adult might find challenging, or at least insightful, aren"t getting made that much any more. Hollywood has turned into a blockbuster machine. Only the foreign and independent film studios are releasing anything of importance any more, and by neccesity these cannot be high budget. Which means that unless somebody takes a gamble and tries to change something, the best Alien film we"re likely to get will be on a par with Alien: Defecation. More likely it will be modelled on AvP. It will become a kids" serial, because challenges and gambles are not Hollywood"s style. "
