Resurrection is superior to AvP in every respect.

Avp - mediocre Avp:r - terrible
I did like the predator vs alien fight scene in the middle of avp, and I'm glad Paul Writing Sucks Anderson didn't kung fu it up, which so many films have done the last decade.

No? The only thing going for A:R is some good actors like Brad and Sigourney and an actual story and pace. In the middle there is bad acting, alien studying, horrible lighting and set colour and the newborn...and Call.

In fact lighting and set colour was one of the things I liked the most in A:R But I agree with the rest.

The problem with the sets is that most have a brown color. At least in Alien 3 it had good lighting and wasn't very plentiful (the corridor chase part was still a tad boring-looking), but to me brown never looks good.

I agree. It works well with Jeunet's other films, but not with this one.

Maybe, but considering the talent and money behind it, it's 20x more disappointing. Shit Alien movie is always gonna hurt more than a shit AvP movie.

If we haven't seen the Aliens in the film to that point, if Grid spearing Chopper was their intro to the movie, and if they cut the stupider things out, such as Celtic throwing Grid like a hammer, it would have been an okay taster of the action that the title suggests. However it was the one of few Alien on Predator moments we got.

Actually, that's a pretty common theme. Anderson claims to have been inspired by the works of Erik von Daniken, who asserts that aliens taught us how to do everything, and their artifacts are still out there in jungles and deserts around the world. The difference is that von Daniken does not admit that this is fiction. Actually he did admit to taking "creative liberties" when experts began to poke holes in his theories.

AVP was OK I thought. Setting it in a pyramid was just a bit silly though. The thing that annoyed me most was the lack of action, and the fact that all the action that was in the movie was given away in teasers before it came out, making the movie generally pointless.
AVPR is just so annoying. I think the action would have been better if it was done more like AVP, well lit, bit of slow mo. As it was, it was just too damned dark, making it annoying, and the only reasonably lit scenes featured unbelievably shitty diologue between shitty characters with even shittier actors.
That and the aliens looked the anal discharge I leave in the toilet the day after 12 pints of lager and a kebab with extra chilli and garlic sauce.

I found A-R to be a fine movie right up till the Crying Skeletor with Tits showed up.

And his publisher demanded that his Chariots... manuscript be cowritten/edited by an SF writer before it would be published. No idea who, unfortunately, but it would've been great if it was L Ron Hubbard!

At first i hated avp i really did, it was a kiddie film and it almost destroyed the predator franchise for me. Since then we have had avp2 and i look back and think..actually im kinda liking avp now, the cast was good, the action was good although lacking real adult brutality and everything looked good and as it should. avp was actually quite well done, the pyramid setting was original and the story behind was not too shabby. The whole was also brought together nicely with a ok cast line up...some known some not but they were memorable to a degree. The main thing i liked about avp now i look back is how they got the aliens looking good. They were the right colour, design and had the brilliant close up's of drooling fans and inner jaw just like alien n aliens. The queen was perfect, she was just as good as cameron's queen and had the exact shape, movement and body structure. The way she moved when chasing scar and alexa in the final sequence was very well done and believeable too, it could of been cgi madness there. The one thing they got wrong in avp which really bugs me is the predators. Firstly they are too fat or bulky lookin...big mistake their. Secondly the face of scar was absolutely shit, i hate it, it had big dumb eyes, the dreads were too long, the jaw opened too wide, it moved badly and didnt fit the roar when edited and it looked to 'dry', there was no moist look that gave the original pred the realistic wow factor. It was such a huge disapointment....and they did the same stupid thing with the pred elder too. The last problem with the main pred which cant be sorted really was kevin peter hall wasnt inside ian whyte overacted the part badly, making all body movement s way too obvious and over the top, such much that u thought he was in a school play at some points haha oooo an alien to the.......LEFT!! massive double take ensue's lol Sure ian was the right height but im sure they could of found some tall guy with better mime skills than him...surely...i could do better i reckon. The flip side of coin is with avp2 getting the pred right......he's slim, athletic, mean, dirty lookin and the mask is much much better (though still not perfect). The inclusion of nasty kills like the skinning (although pretty pointless to the plot) added the original sick factor and brought the arnie classic flooding back to mind. The landscape of avp2 was good for the pred, he looked good in the forest all cloaked..mask visor flashing then bounding of like a wild animal, it was nice and really hit the mark for a good pred film. The whole thing looked much darker and like a comicbook adaptation. The prob was the aliens in avp2..they were crap looking, they went for the cameron style alien but somehow it just didnt look good. Too boney looking, stiff and jerky and the close up's just dont seem to cut it. The predalien was a absolute disaster in all aspects, it looked too fat, cumbersome, not scary, jerky, slow, fake and just a lego built look that is embarassing frankly. The concept designs were good but they chose a terrible design which i believe was down to the studio more than anything grrrrr total misfire So in short im still waiting for an avp film which gets both sides of the coin right, should be avp3 haha I wanna see more avp's, there could be some really good stories about battles in the past and future, doesnt have to be all in sequence, it could be from any point in the timeline. A avp film set during the egyptian age would be cool or when the inca's or mayan's were around.....jungle settings do look and work well. Anyway...avp has grown on me and it now seems like a good film actually, it just needed to be more brutal and adult (the uncut version is a poor excuse with added cgi blood in the same death sequences, very lame). Had it been savage it could have been excellent.

That would be a gret idea, makes me think of when the pred gives Harrigan the gun from way back. I wanna see where predators have been throughout time, basically where he got the gun, I'd like to see one like that maybe back with the cowboys and indians, who nows maybe even Jack the ripper could have been a Predator .
