What are you gonna make of Watchmen when it comes out?

Moore wrote him as a superhero - secret identity, costume, superpowers, sidekick, secret lair - although admittedly he was rather subversive in that V's possibly the first superhero to destroy the status quo rather than preserve it.  In any other comic he would've been prime supervillain material - you gotta love V for Vendetta just for that!

Watchmen looks like it'll fall under the same subgenre of Sin City, V for Vendetta, etc. Not a superhero movie, but a graphic novel adaptation. More emphasis on story and character than on action. It's not Spider-man.

Yet it's about superheroes.  Odd.

Sunshine for one. The plot, was brilliant, the acting was topnotch, the special effects were out of this world (no pun intended) and it was pretty solid directing.

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was one. Just for pure awesome. You could talk about Indy 4.

I also liked War of the Worlds, and The Mist had a few science fictiony bits in it.

LOL.

It was pure awesome.

It had Natalie Portman in it, one of the reasons it wins.

I remember the first time I saw AVP.  It was on a bootleg because the US got it in August and the UK was not getting it till October.  Now part of me is still ashamed to say this, I enjoyed watching it first time around.  It was partly due to the fact that the bootleg I watched was from a cam job in a US theatre where people are yelling "F@ck yeah motherf@cker!!" when eg Scar slices the Alien face off.  This added to the fun of watching it for the first time.

When it was finally released in the UK, I saw it with a far more subdued audience who didn't really react to anything.  And of course, on viewing it this time, my opinion of the movie just dropped again.

Has anyone noticed this when watching a movie at the cinema?   If the crowd goes crazy you just kind of get caught up in it, even if you know in your heart that it's ultimately sh!t.
