I found this on the web so thought i"d post it. I actually didn"t know the Resurrection premiere was in Paris... but anyway, it"s quite a good read, and seven years ago, people liked this movie...   Shocked

Well, I may of got to go to Los Angeles to the premiere of Starship Troopers, but Marvin the Martian got to go to the Paris World Premiere of Alien Resurrection. Now, while I can"t say who saw the better film. Being in Paris would rock completely. I could bungee jump from the Eiffel Tower. And as close as I have been to Ms Ryder has been touching her costume from Alien Resurrection on the Fox lot. (Homer slobber sound insertion) Well here is Marvin"s review from another world...

I"m just emailing you to say that I attended the World Premiere from Alien Resurrection in Paris on thursday night. I am very tired because I just came back from Paris, so please disregard the wrong spelling...

The Director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Sigourey Weaver, Winona Ryder, Ron Pearlman and Dominique Pinon were there, together with several famous guests.

Before the screening started, all actors went on stage and Jeunet gave a little speech. And then Alien 4 began... But after 45 minutes the dialogue went away, and after several minutes the movie was stopped.... What happened? The speaker behind the screen (the one with the dialog) broke down, and now they had to re-route the dialog through the side-loudspeakers...) In the meantime (45 minutes or so) the actors were talking to each other and the organizers, and suddently Sigourney Weaver came toward me and my friend (who invited me to this event), and she stopped beside my chair. She was less than 3 feet from me. Ripley stood beside me! I didn"t talk to her because I don"t think that was appropriate. But I can tell you that she is very tall, very beautiful, looks very professional. Very Very impressive.

Several minutes later all acors and the director went to the stage and started to answer some questions from the public. My friend was able to ask something to Winona Ryder. Very Cool. The actors were joking all te time. Sigourney also told us that the basketball-shot in the movie (yes, there is a basketball shot; I know it sounds strange) was not an effect, but it was a real shot. You will see what I mean when you see the scene. No effect, but a real goal....

After 45 minutes the show went on, and there was al lot of applause at the end(well, we were in France after all....). After the show, we were brought to "La Locomotive", beside Le Moulin Rouge. The party was on invitation only, and all drinks and food was free (Champagn etc... ). The stars however were probably in a room on the next floor. I only saw Ron Pearlman on our level. It was a great evening (I have several foto"s (well, I hope..); I will mail you one when they are developed...)

And the movie... I suppose this is the final print ... Well, the pauze was a little disturbing, but overall it was very good. Visually, it is stunning (You will recognize the style of Jeunet without any problem). The effects are very good, and the scope of the effects is enormous. The design of the Aliens was a surprise for me, but I liked it a lot.

The acting is also very good. Sigourney has some terrific scenes: very sensual, and very emotional. There are several very good one-liners, and the movie has very funny moments. Also thumbs up for the rest of the cast. There are several memorable action-scenes but it is not Aliens. It is just different. A little more emotional en psychological. But don"t be afraid, there is enough action. But it is the emotional/psychological aspect that is the real winner. (I really can"t elaborate on this, although I realise that you probably know all details. I just don"t like spoilers).

Bottom line: Alien Resurrection is one of the few big movies this year that is not a disappointment. Jeunet (and cast) delivered the goods. You really have to see it. I can"t wait for number 5.

Hahahaha! Great timing, both Ron Perlman and Winona Ryder have their eyes shut in that one shot (obviously because they blinked). "

Does anyone else have the feeling that the actors want to be somewhere else?

Ron Perlman has always got that smile on his face. Its hard to tell  when hes is realy happy or bored out of his mind.
