Hot on the heels of the Alien Makers documentary which chronicled some of the best memories of the special effects team from their time working on Alien, Dennis Lowe has just announced to me plans to film another documentary, this time focusing on the fans of the Alien franchise itself! Starting this Saturday July 17, 2009 until approximately August 31, 2009 Dennis will be filming five to eight minute segments with fans within a 100 mile radius of London, England. Fans of all aspects of the franchise and of all ages are welcome. The documentary will focus on enthusiastic fans who would be willing to talk about how the Alien franchise has impacted them in some way. Fans may also choose their own music for their segment. The target length for the documentary will be approximately one hour, but the final structure of the film has yet to be determined as nobody knows what to expect in terms of a response yet. So, if you live in the greater London area, or plan to be there within the next month and a half, you can arrange a time to be filmed by Dennis by emailing him at dennis@alienexperience.com. I envy all you fans in the U.K. as this is an opportunity of a lifetime. Jump on it!

Maybe I'm doing this wrong....I just had a thought that why can't I do this like we did with Simon, he was in Holland and he set up his own DV camera (just off side from his computer monitor) and we did the interview via Skype. He then sent me his copy (not original) by post and that's what I used.
Still an idea, is if this thing goes ahead, I would suggest trying to obtain more that one camera (I can use/ convert most of the formats out there) and suggest to clump the cameras off center to one side of the subject (one for close up, one for medium shot, one for wide shot) it doesn't matter if they are all different formats as I use HD/HDV camcorders mixed with SD camcorders and edit in Vegas which does a pretty good job in reducing them all into a SD DVD for final rendering.
The resulting copied tape (if using DV cassette) and/or mpg files (AVCHD, MTS, etc) could be sent to me in disk form I'd sync them together. No originals please as I'd hate it if the post lost it.
What do you think?

I would suggest first trying to source cameras from friends for a few days, then working out when is the best time for each of you to be available - I will make sure that I could fit into everybody's schedule and I don't mind what time of day/night we do this for each person. We can communicate via email to organize each other for times and availability etc.

I've got a camera, nothing special, but a decent SD quality. I can probably get my hands on something HD if I ask nicely enough.

I'd get the owner of the HD camera involved (behind the camera) then as well they could be doing the pan/tilt on the close up.
