So you're just never going to answer either of my questions?

Despite your posts, I don't think you are as dense as you are pretending to be. You already have your answers. You are just trying to be cute.

Hudson, have you seen the poster for Alien3? Not a star vehicle? Really?

I always thought Weaver was complicit in the whole no guns thing. Just like she was complicit in the alien pseudo-sex scene in Rez.

Sure, the third Alien film could have gone in a different direction. It could have been a giant epic, with thousands of aliens crawling all over Earth and Ripley somehow leading the fight to save the planet. But Fox didn't want to pony up the cash for a gigantic epic, and nobody seemed all the interested in actually writing such a thing. They went another way. Sure, when I first saw the movie when I was 11 or 12, I didn't like it. It was boring, no space marines, etc. But after a couple of years it grew on me, and by the time I was 16, I loved it. They went another way, but they could have done a lot, lot worse.

You want to pretend Alien3 and Rez never happened, that's fine. I know people like that in my real, flesh and blood life. I don't understand it, but you know....diff'rent strokes.

EDIT: Actually, I kind of do understand. See: Batman and Robin, Robocop 3, etc.

I am 100% fine with anyone who likes the movie, any movie. I don't hold a grudge for liking Alien3 or Res...

If someone gets annoyed that I strongly dislike those two films (or the character Ripley) I can't fix that, nor will I try. Not singling you out beckman, just saying. Smiley

Hicks if you reread my longer post you will see I didn't mind Ripley so much in Aliens. I never mentioned her chacrater in Alien but I will. She was handled very well in the first film, stubborn but not smarter or more capable. She survived more on luck that anything else..

Yeah, it was total luck that the Alien appeared on the Narcissus after Ripley destroyed an enormous space ship in vain.  Roll Eyes

I have watched and read dozens upon dozens making of specials, stories, interviews what not. I can't begin to hope to remember the exact quote or location of what you are asking for. Feel free to think I made it up if it makes you feel better. Smiley

I expect if you're going to say something like that you can at least reference where you hear/read it. Otherwise it's baseless.

*looks around forum/site*

Cause I'm not exactly new to the franchise and I've never, ever heard of Weaver making any comments remotely negative towards Cameron for his work on Aliens.

Also, despite the fact there was friction between Cameron and the British film crew they all acknowledged he was a talented writer/director and are proud of being involved in his film.

Of course you would say that. How about passively shunning the whole storyline?  It was not her type of movie. Disliked may be strong words but disliked his work on Aliens is right on the money. Now I'm the one not taking you too seriously.

How about passively shunning the whole storyline?

What exactly is that supposed to mean? I mean, Weaver is supposedly anti-gun yet she was willing to star in a massively violent and gun filled movie. Suppose the paycheques eased the pain of selling out her scruples enough to allow her to sleep at night. I guess that would quality as "passively shunning". Because she certainly wasn't actively shunning it.

I believe in the Quad commentary she mentions how it was hard for her to be in a film with so many guns because she doesn't like guns. That doesn't translate to her disliking how Cameron made the film. Unless she really did think the Marines should have used harsh language instead...

It was not her type of movie. Disliked may be strong words but disliked his work on Aliens is right on the money.

Because you interpret something in your mind doesn't make it fact. Unless you can provide specific examples of things Weaver has said or done to show in some way she didn't like how Cameron made Aliens then you're just blowing hot air. If it's so "on the money" you must have something you can reference?

Now I'm the one not taking you too seriously.

Why is that? Because I'm asking you to backup something instead of just lapping it up? Again, the "because I said so" angle doesn't float to far.
