Sigourney Weaver as queen of sci-fi: 'Outer space has been good to me'
« on: December 10, 2009, 12:45:06 PM »

Geoff Boucher, who heads up the rockin' "Hero Complex" fanboy blog at the LA Times, had a recent chat with Sigourney Weaver regarding her return to sci-fi with "Avatar" --  as well as the legacy of her work in the "Alien" movies. Weaver says this about her sci-fi admirers: "It's absolutely my favorite fan base -- I love those guys."

New Siggilicious commentaries for all four flicks on Blu-Ray.

That's enough for me to buy a player.

A little bad taste is like a nice dash of paprika.

Gosh darn it, she looks so good. She doesn't look fake like some other actresses then went crazy with botox as they got older.

I saw the latest trailer for Avatar, and it looks much better on a big screen.

Quote
“It was a very popular and recently distributed science-fiction movie and I had to turn it off,” Weaver said. “It was so lacking in story and lacking in charm and lacking in humanity.

AVPR?

I friggin love her!

I met her very briefly after seeing her in a play in NYC, and she was SO incredibly nice to me, even though I was  completely "Alien-star-struck".  And, yeah, I got her autograph.

Oh yeah, and the news about  commentaries for the Blu-ray Quad release is pretty awesome!

That's pretty cool but I'd rather just get a Bill Paxton commentary for Aliens.  Tongue

It would have been very cool on the Quadrilogy releases, to have had the option to listen to isolated commentary tracks.

For example, it's pretty obvious that on "ALIEN" Sigourney and Ridley recorded their track together. And Veronica, Tom and Harry recorded theirs together at another time, (John Hurt sounds like he was alone, I think), and then all those commentaries were spliced together into ONE commentary track.

They did the same thing with the "Aliens" commentary. It would have been nice to have commentaries that stand "alone",  rather than all cut together, so I know what you mean.

Well...at least they exist in some vault. That means (as Lloyd would say) there's a chance.

MOD:

Speaking of this new Alien Anthology box. I was reading on The Digital Bits (who reported on Sigourney's announcement of the commentaries) that this new box will reportedly knock the socks off fans of the Quadrilogy.

If that's so, then it MUST include the Burke deleted scene. I mean...that's the only thing I can think of when I think of more material being added. Well, let me rephrase that: It's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of more material being added to a collection. I know there's a ton of other stuff (including about half a billion Alien 3 deleted scenes that still weren't used) that I'd like to see included as well.

+ the crab walk scene from Alien. It was on the Legacy set, but not the Quad, for whatever reason.
