The Ten Commandments of Aliens vs. Predator
« on: January 22, 2010, 12:04:53 AM »

IGN has posted up an article called The Ten Commandments of Aliens vs. Predator where they list 10 different gaming tips for playing the various species as well as a little more information about each of the storylines:

The Alien campaign kicks off inside a Weyland-Yutani Corporation research facility, with a number of human subjects regaining consciousness, only to find they're strapped into a machine, with a wide glass tube hovering over their chests. You can guess what happens next. Yep, chest bursters. Each of the Aliens is branded with a number and restrained to prevent escape as they grow. You are Number 6, and it's not longer before you escape your confines, release the other subjects – including the Queen – and wreak havoc on the base.

Life as an Alien is all about speed and the element of surprise – vents are used to get about the base, while almost any surface can be moved on: hold RT to transition to a new surface, tap RT to drop back to the ground from any surface, or aim the reticule and press A to jump to a surface within reach. The sensation of movement is heightened in a couple of ways – the viewpoint is low to the ground/wall/ceiling and the field of view is expanded, both of which make movement feel a lot faster.

As an Alien the darkness is your friend, so you can use your attacks to take out lights to cloak areas in the inky stuff, which then enables you to launch surprise enemies – either by locking on from a distance and dashing in for an intense claw-attack, or by simply sneaking up and trying to skewer them with a nasty tail jab. Or by the ever-popular technique of running straight at an enemy and slashing them to pieces in a frenzy.

As mentioned the article also covers the Predator and Marines. Get the rest at IGN.
