And here I thought Mac users were the elitist ones.
You kind of have to be...since the bastards cost thousands of dollars!

Simon's in the very narrow range where he can make the mac work for him. Why he would attempt it is beyond me, but it is possible for someone of sufficient awesome.

Ok, I guess I'm safe then.

ALIEN FANS DVD
After a nightmare weekend I'm starting to get the DVD together of 'Alien Fans'. It all started when I was half way into rendering the film for DVD when the sound came out strange and was cutting off every few seconds, I use Dolby Digital to create the ac3 sound files and that has always been reliable, after a few hours tweaking and checking out connections it became clear that something serious was looming. My sound card was was OK and the software rendered fine on other small projects I'd done previously but this one was different, I know that I had lots of different formats to work with on this project but they all played fine while editing, no sign of crashing etc. The visuals rendered fine but the sound was terrible and so I had to bite the bullet and go for a complete reinstall rather than try to find the culprit. I've kept my original disk with the operating system still on it (as insurance so I could always get back to square one) and decided to spend the weekend starting from scratch and load in the new operating system with applications onto a nearly new disk I had waiting in the side lines. I've only just finished getting the system how I like it (48 hours later) and so far the sound is back to how it should be, there are so many combinations of what went wrong that sometimes it's better to spend the time and go for a clean install. Hopefully in a few days I should have the ISO file to distribute again (PAL and NTSC).

I mostly just use my PC for surfing around the internet and the occasional file processing, and I still usually reinstall every year just to keep everything running smooth.
Its just one of those things like rebuilding an engine in your car. Eventually retuning it just isn't enough anymore.
But I almost kind of look forward to when the time comes that I'm finally forced to do it because I'm always struck by how much smoother and faster everything functions after a fresh format and install.
I cant wait to see the new movie. All of them have been amazing.

Any word on this? Just wondering what the status is, if you're having any further problems rendering the ISO.

That was delightful! Dominic I have to say that without knowing who you were before the end credits rolled I was thinking I most related to how you saw the films. More of a ghost that haunts you instead of strictly just a fan of the films. Then I saw your forum name at the end. Always did enjoy reading your posts. Your drawings were excellent as well.
Incredible job Dennis, perfect.

The DVD's have gone out to everyone involved in the project so I'll be putting the torrent files up next week.
