Voted for the facehugger, no question about it. And yeah, a return of the facehuggers would indeed pretty darn good.  Smiley

8374  Containment Labs / Alien Franchise / what did we all think of Clemens death on: March 28, 2006, 01:50:44 AM

Clemens death is without a doubt the most bone chilling thing in the Assembly Cut. I love how the alien steps on the bed and you see from under it, and the close up of the alien before it strikes him down.

Not really TV, but Shrek 2 had a clear reference to the chestburster scene.

Ripley : Whose airplane is this?
Hicks : It"s a dropship, baby.
Ripley : Whose dropship is this?
Hicks : It"s Ferro"s.
Ripley : Who"s Ferro?
Hicks : Ferro"s dead, baby. Ferro"s dead.

That"s hilarious.  Grin

8382  Containment Labs / Alien Franchise / How Bishop II Is Human on: March 25, 2006, 07:58:04 PM

Still - what"s the point?  It"s established that Bishop or Ash were multiskilled to handle a variety of different tasks.  What would be the need for specialised droids, when existing models can handle lots of different duties?

But Bishop was designed that way because he was going in with marines right? I would think all of his skills would be essential to a droid of his kind, optimized to help out in all ways possible in the field.

Yeah I know that"s not what you"re saying.  It just popped into my head while I was typing how ridiculous some of the pro-android theories are.  If they"d gone to that trouble, why didn"t Bishop simple cut his finger and say "Believe me now?"

Beats me.  Wink

What kind of pointless droid is built ONLY for "interrogation" or "pursuasion"?

Might sound incredibly stupid to you, but like I said, therapist-droids perhaps?

Another thing that gets me with the red blood, it"s as if WY could see into the future and go "Hmm... that halfwit of a warden is going to belt Bishop over the head.  Better inject some red food colouring into it"s circulation so we can fool everyone."  Laughable...

That"s not really what I"m saying, if that"s what you mean. One theory could be that the white "blood" could differ during different temperatures. Read: I don"t know.

Why didn"t this more advanced Bishop II simply use these reflexes to stop Ripley closing the gate to the furnace gantry, or this strength to simply wrench the door off and take Ripley by force?  He was well within reach to do so.

And why does the TRUE more advanced droid (Call) have white blood, if they can do red without a problem?

There"s nothing you could really say for fact (edit: well ofcourse there"s always what the directors says), as all people have different opinions on this matter. I"m just sticking to the fact that he"s a different model, and Call being a different model too, designed for each of their own purposes.

Bishop II could"ve simply been an "interrogation droid" or "pursation droid" (whichever you might find more fitting), constructed to resemble a real human, with real emotions and actions. If you think about it, he does resemble somewhat of a shrink in A3. So I don"t believe he was made to be dealing with force.

And Dachande, that"s the whole point of my view. I don"t.
