“Of course, what I want to do is scare the living shit out of you.”

- - Ridley Scott

Having read that, I must say that my anticipation and excitement for this movie has increased exponentially.

In fact, I cannot think of a single horror flick where exploring the genesis of the villain has ever been a worthwhile endeavor.

Or any sci-fi flick for that matter.  Star Wars prequels submitted as Exhibits 1-3, your Honor.

Sounds just like me!   Wink

Reading everyone's posts makes me want to run out and get a blu-ray player and a high-def t.v.

Got 'Poltergeist' through Netflix the other day.  In Robbie and Carol Ann's room there's a poster for 'Alien' hanging on Robbie's side of the room.  Had completely forgotten about that.

New MU-TH-UR Mode trailer.  Damn, now all I need is a blu-ray player, and a high-def t.v.

Recently:

Them!
It!  The Terror From Beyond Space

I do love them old-timey 1950's B-movie creature features!  Smiley

Arachnophobia
Now my kids are really terrified of spiders!   Evil

The Nightmare Before Christmas
Missed most of it, as I was outside with the dog.  Liked what I saw, though.  You can definitely tell it's from the mind of Tim Burton.

Alien
I recently had the pleasure of watching this with my 13 y/o daughter.  If you've never had the opportunity to watch it with a kid, I highly recommend it.  I think I enjoyed watching her reactions to the movie more than I enjoyed watching the movie itself!

Actually, I did, in fact, think somebody 'shopped it, since I never saw anything official.   Wink

So if they fixed that shot, I'm really hoping they fix a particular shot' Alien'.

I was lurking over at the forums over at jamescameraononline.com, and I found this:

http://www.jamescamerononline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2502

This thread claims that the Biship goof in 'Aliens' is being corrected for the blu-ray release.  Has this been officially confirmed?

Are they intending to fix any other goofs/continuity errors in any of the films?
9  Containment Labs / Alien Franchise / Who cleaned up the Mess Hall/Table? on: September 29, 2010, 12:10:28 PM
For whatever reason, I was thinking about the burial scene in 'Alien' this morning, and I thought to myself, "God bless the poor soul that had to clean up THAT mess!".  This got me thinking, who would have had the unfortunate job of cleaning up after Kane's death?

Seems to me, Parker & Brett would have pulled "We don't get paid enough for this!", and flat out refused.  Lambert would have been too hysterical, so we can probably rule her out.

That leaves either Dallas, Ripley, and Ash.

Which then begs the question: Since Ash was protecting/studying the alien, wouldn't he have wanted to at least examine Kane's remains, or at the very least preserve them for analysis upon return to Earth, or did the AutoDoc glean enough information to render this a pointless endeavor?  He seemed Hellbent on bringing the dead facehugger back, wouldn't the medical doctors/bio-weapons specialists want to know how exactly the alien used Kane's body for incubation? Possibly because he didn't want to draw too much attention to himself, and his overall mission?

Bollocks to you North America. I wanted to enter that competition.

Also bollocks to their lack of John McClane.

12  Containment Labs / Prometheus / Re: Leaked Alien Prequel Script? You be the judge. on: February 05, 2010, 07:52:57 AM

I'm going to give it another read, out of fairness, but uh, yeah, this is just...wow.

Spoiler:
The whole end scene with Ash being programmed with Special Order 937 confuses me.  I was always under the impression that Special Order 937 was a file within Mother's memory that was intended for only Ash to be able to access, not something that was programmed into him directly.

Am I missing something?
13  Containment Labs / Alien Franchise / Re: "What happened to the rest of the crew?" on: February 03, 2010, 12:40:56 PM
According to Dan O'Bannon, the planet was dying and being the benevolent creatures they were, the Jockeys wanted to preserve the remaining specimens of this species; not knowing the danger they were soon to be in.

I really like this theory, especially when you consider that the beacon was transmitting a warning to stay away.  If the Jockeys were such a ruthless, warmongering species, as some theories suggest, why would the Pilot bother to turn on the beacon at all?  If that were the case, I would wager that the Pilot would most certainly have left it unactivated, figuring anything that comes along and discovers the ship deserves the fate that awaits in the cargo hold/chamber.

I agree with the esteemed SM on this particular issue.

Ah, I fondly remember the long-gone days of my childhood, riding my Spider-Man Big Wheel down the sidewalk of good old West 148th Street, pretending to rescue my beloved Ripley from the clutches of the vile Alien.

Happy Birthday, Sigourney!

15  Containment Labs / Alien Franchise / Re: MOTHER! on: October 07, 2009, 09:38:23 AM
Welcome to the forums!

The Nostromo's main computer system is MU-TH-R (nicknamed 'Mother') 182 2.1 Terabyte AI Mainframe w/ 2.0 Terabyte MU-TH-R 146 Backup Mainframe.

I seem to remember when Ripley finally has access to Mother and she's going through the sequence of gaining access to the mainframe there's a shot where you can see the MU-TH-R on one of the access panels.

Can't find a screegrab right now, though, and I just checked the Alien gallery.  Nothing there.  I'll see if I can't find it and upload it for you tonight.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Tryfan beat me to it!
