It was totally built up for a few months by my friend saying it was awesome. I find it 'kind of meh', not 'bad'. It has its moments.

Well, I think he meant awesome in the same way I consider Predator 2 to be awesome. More "fun" and less "masterpiece."

For fucking twenty seconds. A Geiger Counter gets more screen time than him. Also, the movie is pretty sparse on the creature effects and gore. Most of the movie is men with mustaches arguing about homeless people.

Ok, this sounds like a response coming from someone with higher expectations. My 2 questions are, what were your expectations for the movie...and why? Jesus...it's called CHUD.

Also...don't mistake me for someone who considers the movie to be better simply because Goodman was in it. I was being sardonic. But, come on, it's not a BAD movie. I was much more intrigued by CHUD as an 80s horror movie than I was by the ridiculous shitload outpouring of cocksucking that's directed toward Fright Night.

CHUD was kind of meh

Oh come on, don't be so cynical. John Goodman was in it!

I did not realize Shane Black did Iron Man 3 and I now want to see the first two movies just so I can watch the 3rd.

I'm still not sold on Fright Night. Granted, I've only seen it once but it was really not what I was expecting I guess in some ways, and what I was expecting in others.

I want to see the second one...but it's impossible to get apparently.

Statham plays the character really well

So, is it made up of cut-ins from his last decade of starring roles?

The Place Beyond the Pines  Thumbs Up

Just got back from a theatrical screening of The Shining. Fuck me, I thought watching it on regular sized TVs gave me the chills...

Oblivion: Pretty much what I expected. It's pretty, the music is decent, but the plot and screenplay are pretty meh. The movie takes entirely too long to get to the point, and the set-pieces and ambiguity that take place before the punch-line just aren't good enough to forgive it. There are some potentially interesting ideas, none of which are really explored at all.

Spoiler:
Also, the ending is plagiarist of Independence Day. Right down to the production design and cinematography.

If it's not a movie you were planning on seeing; or the trailer didn't do anything for you (like myself), it's probably not worth your time and money. Unless you are one of those 5-movies-a-week maniacs.

One thing I really liked was the drone robot characterizations. I enjoyed that you could see "166" and automatically think "that asshole again!" Not really original per say, but I liked that aspect.

Rosemary's Baby for the first time. Really good, not quite a 10/10 but really good.

Oblivion

Pretty cool. I think it was fairly solid, not airtight though. Similar to Tron Legacy in that respect.

The original Footloose.

Actually......I liked it. I thought the portrayal of the preacher was actually really fair and complex. Damn them.

I'm not sure if it really stood out to me, but yeah, I'd never go out of my way to watch the movie again.

The Namesake

Had to watch it for a minorities studies class. Pretty good, but it's really by the numbers. Every single story about immigrants in the US is about a generational struggle between children and parents. It never changes.

I thought Ruffalo was really good.

You forgot to specify which version.

There is "THE Evil Dead" from 1981 and "Evil Dead" from 2013. Two different titles.  Wink
