I was not a big fan of the film, but a lot of these are just asinine, almost like they didn't watch the movie. A lot was self explanatory if you paid attention in anyway.  Facepalm (Picard)

Excellent find!

This is something I have thought about for the last 20 yrs or so...lol

I would say the creature in the 1st film seemed more intelligent, a lot of what it did was terrifying and visceral, every time I watch that film I get chills. I am sure it has been said a million times, but the Parker death scene showed insane intelligence in my opinion, just the way the creature seemed to be fascinated with her. The approach and the death, there is just something about the whole scene that screams curiosity from the creatures stand point, I shudder to think of the things it may have done to her before, during and after death.

In Aliens & Alien:Res. they seem to have a more "Hive" thought process, it may have lessened the creature a bit, but Cameron's story still kicks ass and A:R still sucks. Alien 3 I guess you could say the creature is just as intelligent as your average dog/ox, which further lessened the creature. Not sure were this whole take on the characteristics of the host thing came along but I do not agree with it.

The original Alien is still is the scariest of all and likely the most intelligent.
