I find it awkward to play as the Alien. The third person is really throwing me off and it's too difficult, or more difficult than it needs to be anyway, to climb walls and walk on the ceiling, and what not. In all of the previous games where you could play as the Alien, even AvP 2010, it was much more intuitive.

The News Network / Site News / Win a Copy of Aliens: Colonial Marines!

Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen! We are teaming up with SEGA to give away two copies of the Xbox 360 version of Aliens: Colonial Marines! Additionally, we are also giving away two copies of the Eagle Transporter ARMAT M41A Pulse Rifle poster that was released, and sold out, several years ago. I've been holding onto these copies for just such an occasion and will be mailing them out to two other lucky winners. So, if you want to win a copy of Aliens: Colonial Marines for Xbox 360 (NTSC version only) or a very cool Pulse Rifle poster, simply post "Ooorah!" in the thread below. The contest will run from now until March 6th at 8:00pm ET at which point I will randomly pick four winners from those members who have posted in this thread. Good luck! And many thanks to Clumsyorchid, community manager, over at the SEGA forums for his help with this.

The News Network / Aliens: Colonial Marines / Aliens: Colonial Marines Metacritic Score
|
on: February 20, 2013, 07:18:32 PM
|
Metacritic has compiled it's score for all three platform versions of Aliens: Colonial Marines. The general vibe around the game is that it is lackluster in a number of categories. Here's how it breaksdown: Xbox 360 49/100 based on 33 reviews. PlayStation 3 44/100 based on 16 reviews. PC 42/100 based on 33 reviews. Certainly not encouraging. But I suppose, as always, you should judge for yourself. I've had the game since it was released last week but have only logged about half an hour total in both single and multiplayer modes combined. There are some cool nods to the films, but I can see where some of the complaints are coming from. All-in-all, however, it's far too early for me to pass final judgement. In the meantime, if you've played the game, I'd love to hear what you have to think of it. Post your comments below.

Recreational / Science / Re: Siberia hit by meteorite

Really? I imagine it could've taken out a small town. My understanding is that the resulting crater is always much larger (several dozen times) than the actual object, not to mention the radius of the resulting shock wave caused by the impact. It's just something I heard on the news, I have no facts to actually back it up. It seemed counter-intuitive to me at the time as well, but anything's possible.

The News Network / Aliens: Colonial Marines / GT's Annoyed Gamer Rants on A: CM

Marcus Beer, better known as Annoyed Gamer of GameTrailers, has posted his latest blog video focusing on the newly released SEGA game Aliens: Colonial Marines, and some issues that have recently come to light in regards to who actually developed the game: Developer accountability is something gamers have been demanding for years now, perhaps if the cause is championed by the media, it will be something we eventually get.

Imagine if this fucker had actually impacted Earth's surface (bits of it have, apparently). From what I understand an aerial explosion is actually much more destructive than if it had, in fact, impacted the Earth.

Yeah, only played FC3 for about 90 minutes but am really digging it. Fixed a lot of the issues from FC2, but I kind of miss the weapon reliability factor. It was always interesting when your weapon would jam or explode outright in your hands in the middle of a firefight!
And yes, I agree about the Aftermath level design, best maps since the stock maps. Really liking it.

Tried MoH: Warfighter and Hitman: Absolution and both were "meh". Trading both in this week against Far Cry 3, which looks promising. Got the new DLC for BF3 called Aftermath which, in my opinion, is the best add-on to the game yet, by far. Still getting lots of mileage out of that game.
