But...this is a Lauzirika produced release right? I mean he doesn't usually treat us that way.

I'm probably showing my ignorance here, but why videotape dumps?

Probably not literally, but often that is what they look like if the producer of the disc is lazy. Back in the days of DVD and for some older titles, they are dumped from videotape I believe.

I want pristine quality. I want somebody to go ahead and cut together a bootleg extended edition using the scenes.

I definitely know what you're saying. The deleted scenes on the newer Apocalypse Now releases are abysmal and really disappointing, especially cuz they're so damn interesting most of the time.

But I don't think the producer of this disc is lazy.

Just a heads-up, I read on BD.com's forum that the 2D release might not include all of the extras. Nobody knows for sure at this moment, but if you don't want to get cheated keep your ear to the ground.

Here's an interesting thing - for the past few days all the info on the extras for Prometheus have been deleted from the BBFC website. Is this perhaps Fox being a bit miffed that they've been doing the rounds on the web?

CdL on Prometheus extras:

“I’m intensely proud of the PROMETHEUS disc,” Lauzirika tells Fango. “It’s probably one of the most, if not the most, comprehensive discs I’ve ever done. I’m shocked that we were able to achieve the depth and scope of what we were able to do in the time that we had, which was fraction of what we had on a catalog title like, say, BLADE RUNNER, which goes on for years and years and years. PROMETHEUS we had a few months to get out, but it’s epic.”

While he can’t go into specifics just yet, Lauzirika suggests that there will be some pretty extensive documentary features, the result of a good deal of time spent on PROMETHEUS’ sets and locations. “I was out there for several weeks,” he says. “I’d go for like two weeks at a time, and I would shoot interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. I shot all of preproduction, which was about a year, and I also shot postproduction. Most of the camerawork is mine on that, but I also had another camera operator, Vanessa White, in the UK who shot when I wasn’t there, so we had the whole thing covered, soup to nuts. I didn’t get to go to Iceland [where some of PROMETHEUS’ most remarkable moments were lensed] for that shoot, but Vanessa covered that, and we have amazing footage of Iceland as well.”

Fox is being dicks about releasing official info on the fucker. There's still no solid word on whether or not we'll need to plunk down the 30 bucks for the 3D version to get all the extras.
