Possibly my favourite film of last year (Make that after Batman Begins), The Descent has been announced for a Summer release in the States. I highly recommend my state-side friends to see it, it's amazingly scary and even better than Director Neil Marshall's last piece, Dog Soldiers. If you need any more convincing, check out the quote at the top of the official movie site.. Click here I suppose us UK'ers that have seen it can discuss it, though we'll need massive ** SPOILER** signs everywhere.. So, anyone think the ending was really fucked up?

Still a great/freaky film though I really didn't like it when I saw it, but the more time passes, the more I think I'd like it if I watch it again. I really liked the *NOT REALLY A SPOILER, 'CAUSE IT'S REALLY EARLY ON, BUT UNEXPECTED NONE-THE-LESS* car crash and the husband getting impailed. Funny shit

Best film of last year. I loved the part with the huge pool of blood.

Yeah, I loved the film. Very scary. It's a shame that Americans are getting a slightly different ending with the very last scene cut out. So, anyone think the ending was really fucked up? No, I thought it was good. Very few films end like that with no happy ending.

One of the most nightmarish, claustrophobic and terrifying movies I have ever seen. ?I first watched it in the dark, testing out my new surround sound system. ?Holy shit. I've been raving about this film to friends ever since and will definitely be dragging them all to see it in theatres this August - if only to hear their (and everyone else in the theatre's) screams. It's a shame that Americans are getting a slightly different ending with the very last scene cut out. WHAT?!?!

Hmm...well if the alternate ending has the consent of Marshall, then I guess I will have to give him the benefit of the doubt. But do they mean that the last shot has been trimmed, or cut entirely? Because if the latter, then that would end the movie on a much less realistic and very cliched note.

Hmm...well if the alternate ending has the consent of Marshall, then I guess I will have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, that pissed me off when I read it. I initially thought it was the studio who did that but it wasn't. It was the director himself. But why bother? It's already been released with this ending and on DVD. It should stay like that. But do they mean that the last shot has been trimmed, or cut entirely?? Because if the latter, then that would end the movie on a much less realistic and very cliched note. It's cut entirely, I think. It leads off with Americans thinking she got out of the cave. In fact, that was just a dream in the UK version.

[SPOILERS]
But I love how downbeat the ending is!? It's one of the things that makes it such a great and unconventional horror flick.? Having it end with her finding Juno in the car is just such a cheap last-minute scare.? I was so happy when she woke up again in the cave.? It just fit the nightmarish feel perfectly.

* SPOILER* Oh, I was slightly confused by the ending.. She must of knocked herself out again after she had left Juno to die. See, I suppose the very last scene could have been interpreted as a flashback/memory because there was a couple of times she had hallucinated her daughter in the cave. But I guess it is a really downbeat ending, then. Love it.

I didn?t like it. It stole pretty much everything it had from a Jeff Long-book of the same name, without being an actual adaptation. I just can`t forgive something like that. Still, a pretty good movie as a stand-alone.

This movie sounds awesome but I won't get to see it until November, unless I order the DVD.
