Riddick Trilogy
« on: June 04, 2006, 11:51:32 PM »

Just bought all 3 movies in the Franchise Collection for around $14 and watched the first two.  Pitch Black apparently was unrated with like 3 extra minutes but I didn't really notice too much that was different.  Just wondering about everyone's opinion of this series.

I personally like it.  It's just a good old fashioned sci-fi story that tried its best.  I give my blessing to David Twohy for trying.

I've only seen Pitch Black, which was tons of fun. I haven't seen Cronicles Of Riddicka and I didn't even know there was a third one. What's it called?

There's 3 flicks? ?Didn't think they'd bother with a third flick after Chronicles... tanked.

Or are you including that animated thing they did?

I wouldn't include the animated flick into the trilogy, but I voted good anyways.

Pitch Black was a very enjoyable flick (and very inspiring to me in a few ways), and I thought the (Unrated) Chronicles of Riddick was mighty enjoyable. I even bought the damn book so as to get some more information on everything in the film (the necromonger's philosophy etc, which is explained very thorough in the book).

So yeah, call me silly, Richard B. Riddiculous or whatever you want, but I like the films. *thumbs up*

..Except for Dark Fury. I don't like the drawing style so I lost interest quite quickly, that and the fact that it was completely useless and added nothing to the series (well ok that's a lie seeing as you get some background info on Toombs) but nevertheless felt pointless. It didn't need to exist.

*votes*

edit: Btw, in case anyone is going to see Chronicles of Riddick again, or am for the first time, watch the Unrated Version for Jebus' sake if you haven't already! It's alot better than the theatrical version (with a completely new subplot to it).

Pitch Black isn't part of the trilogy. Chronicles of Riddick is only the first of a new trilogy. There will be The Underverse and Return to Furia.

Maybe that was just the name of a boxset?

I appreciate how hard it must be to create a large sci-fi universe, and the universe looks interesting. I wasn't a big fan of the Chronicles of Riddick, but it was okay and enjoyable. Maybe it was only the theatrical release. I'll look into the unrated version.

I may have been here from the start, but how many of you have gotten more involved than I ever was since I left? I feel so inaequate. It's a good thing I've a massive knob.

Yeah forget about the Chronicles Of Riddick PG-13 version that you see on HBO or whatever. The Unrated version is the best one by far, it's a completely different Riddick movie.

I'm not the only one including Dark Fury in the trilogy.
