It's true - my thoughts are motivated!
But seriously, think about it. No Anderson. No bullshit military complex with Lex. No cities being overrun in a massive canon breach. What more could you expect from an AVP movie.
I notice the Strauss are already distancing themselves from the first one - this will be a 'deliberate reimagining' of AVP rather than a continuation of it. Quite frankly, they could pull out a giant octopus and set it on Mt. Everest - as long as nothing remains of any part of AVP by the end of teh film I'll be happy.
But I really don't think Salerno's script sounds as bad as everone is making out. I am quite surprised that this level of near universal hostility wasn't a part of these forums during the first AVP, where the damage was done, rather than focusing on the fact that AVP2 looks like a traditional horror film set up. And that can't be a bad thing, as so was Alien and Predator.

True, true... But I`m still very unhappy with the setting and the characters. Texas? Sheriff? Pizza-boy? But yeah, it could be a lot worse.

I believe there will be changes, we might not have a AVP2 that take's place in Texas, this stuff hasn't been confirmed yet. My biggest problem is the character's, this project has to have a strong cast. In AVP, the only character I cared about dying was Scar lol, everyone else I could give a shit about.
I believe in Alien 3 the only thing that saved that movie from complete destruction and in the end made it a powerfuly driven emotional film was the cast. It had a very strong cast, whenever someone spoke I believe that person, whatever they felt which was fear or sorrow I believed they felt that in their acting.
AVP2 is going to need by far a very strong cast to save it if it should take place in Texas. That is the only way a Texas setting can work, strong cast with epic action scenes. If the director's miss one of those two, or falls short on one side, it will make the first AVP look like a award winning sci-fi film. In other words, AVP2 will be pure shit. But keep in mind a Texas setting hasn't been confirmed yet, and seeing the brother's past work, it reminds me of David Fincher's time. I think a lot of us have been tramatized by Paul Anderson's work and were all seriously concerned with AVP now, more then ever. I think we all need to calm down, BIG TIME! You'll live longer.
