Mortal Kombat 3 : Devastation
« on: July 14, 2006, 03:33:24 PM »

Well, I heard they're making another MK movie that's coming out in 2007. I really liked the first one that came out in 1995, brings back memories of the good old days. I remember it took me 3 times to finally get into the theater to see it. MK especially made a lot of money world wide. Hands down, it's the best video to movie I've seen so far, but the second installment sucked balls!

Director Mink who directed "Into The Sun" starring Steven Seagal was his best work so far,but that's not saying much. I didn't get a chance to see the whole film, but from what I saw it had great fight scenes! But the story could have been a lot better, and especially the acting.

Overall the director has shown he can pull off good over the top action scenes and create nice visuals. But that's not enough to make MK a good film. It's a story about saving the world and fighting in the most dangerous martial art contest, it has potential to have a emotional side to it, if they get a good cast of course, and a director that's cares about the dam story. So far, the same guy's who played Jonny Cage in the first MK will be back, and Christopher Lambert will be in it too, thank god!

Im a huge MK fan, I hope they do a good job with this next one, personally I think the director is going to fuck it up. Does anyone have any breaking new's on MK3?

Not sure. All I know is that they're trying to bring back most of the original cast. It better be good or else...

Back in 1995 I got my first stero system and my first CD I got in fact was the MK soundtrack. I've been listening to that dam CD ever since. I Still watch the DVD from time to time. The opening of the movie is great, seeing that huge MK icon all on fire just get's me all pumped up. The second film was a complete let down, totally pointless, even when I was a kid watching it I still hated it. I still think the first MK movie is the best video game to movie I've seen so far Thinks  especially at the time it was made!

I hope they change some of Raiden's appearence to look more like it does in the video game(s). I really hated Lambert in the first MK movie. (the whole movie is a bunch of crap, but at least it was fun comparing stuff to the games) Haven't seen the second film, I think.

I didn't think the film was crap at all, it's pretty bad ass I thought. Good action scenes, a decent cast, great special effects and the movie all around was a perfect image of what Mortal Kombat is all about. But if we were talking about the second one, now that was crap! Don't even see it, it's a complete waste of time.

I thought Lambert did a great job playing Raiden. But I do agree they should have made him look a little more like Raiden from the game, but he did never the less play the character of Raiden very well. Im sure if they make him more scary looking in the third one he will play him even better, he is one of my favorites. But personally, my favorite character in the film was reptile, that scene where the statue eats him up is bad ass. They made outworld look pretty good, if you watch that scene again, their on a big ass set!

But they are supposed to be ignoring that shitfest and going for a sequel to the FIRST movie. I dunno, haven't seen MK since the late 90s, I guess I should see it again soon. I recall liking it.

I also recall thinking the live-action TV show wasn't that bad, in a cheesy-ass, B-movie kind of way...

I agree, everything about it was good in my eye's, maybe not perfect Roll Eyes It had a good cast, great action, really good special effects especially for it's time, and a killer soundtrack. The MK franchise is a walking success story. But I do agree that the second film was pretty bad.? Even when I was a kid watching it in theater's thinking it would be good, I still hated it. I hope they don't mess up the third installment, im not too excited about the director Mink? What type of name is that btw!?

Into the Sun was his best work, but that's not saying very much. I saw bits of the movie on USA, it did have some hardcore over the top fight scenes which Mortal Kombat 3 needs. I hope the crew doesn't get stupid with the cast. God I hope they get a good actor to play Jax, I was thinking that black guy in the subway scene from Underworld who turned into a werewolf, he would be perfect.

Jax

He did play a cool Werewolf im not sure what his name is but I did see him in other films.

For Raiden

was thinking maybe Liam Neeson from Batman Begins would be cool, if he lost the long white hair. Or they were going for the Japanese Raiden look Ken Watanabe from The Last Samuria would be hands down my first choice.

Sonya Blade

I don't think Sonya Blade should be in the movie but If I had to choose, I would get the women from Terminator 3, with the right direction im sure they could make her look and act pretty bad ass.

Johnny Cage

There is an actor in fact called Johnny Messner from movie Tears Of The Sun, Running scared and Hostage. He played a Navy SEAL in Tears Of The Sun, the second picture is him playing the character of Lake in that film, he's not that bad of a actor.

Coincidently, Kristanna Loken played Taja in the MK: Devastation TV series.

(Random trivia: Jaime Pressly and Eva Mendes had guest starred in it)

Yeah, good choices. Probably wouldn't happen with Neeson, but it's just a fictional cast list.

The guy from Underworld has a weird voice. Sounds fake to me, actually. But he'd certainly look the part.
