90's were a good grunge period. Its a bit ofa tough question really. You could answer the 3 bands you listened to the most or the 3 bands that actually did rule the 90's(chart wise)

IMO anyway it would be:

Pearl Jam
Nirvana
Rage against the machine.

Trying to be as objective as possible:

Oasis
REM
Nirvana (though I never cared for them)

+ for choosing Melvins over Nirvana and the more famous grunge era bands

I probably listened most to these 3 in the 90s
Manic Street Preachers
Ramones
Ministry

Personally it was Michael Jackson (my early years..), Roxette (yeah..) and Marilyn Manson.  Undecided
Wasn't until summer o'nine until I got into Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails and Tool - what probably truly would've ruled my 90's..

(+) Back at ya for the Ramones.
I am so glad that I caught them live during their last tour.

Thanks

Were they any good though? I mean their later live albums were pretty bad compared to the awesome It's Alive.

Well, not like they were back in the day, but it was still fun to see them play live for the last time.
