Problem with AVP
« on: December 05, 2006, 04:16:29 PM »

This is my problem:

Beginning the game, passage by the menus configurations, without no type of problems, beginning the game, sees the initial video and until there all is ok. But when beginning the game with my char, the screen is seen completely black and the bar of energy of the alien is stranger as with exaggerated colors, does not see anything and it is not possible to play.

Here some screens:

I can't help there buddy. I have the same problem as you, however, my AVP game lets me go through, select the game and character and then when trying to load the game goes completely black.

It tells me that the graphics card i have is to obsolete to play the graphics at the lowest level. Hard to believe when my graphics card is about 6years younger than the game. Not to mention it being able to play F.E.A.R or Halo 2 with no problems at all.

Purchased another card and fitted it along with my current card to the motherboard and it still says it can't handle the graphics..... I give up.  Snooty Snooty

My Predator and Marine missions worked fine, though it always crashes when trying to play the Alien missions.  Is reintalling the game actually going to help?

Couldn't make it any worse.

You'd be surprised how many problems a clean reinstall will fix. If it doesn't work, you can cross it off your list. If it does work, bonus.

What he said. It probably isnt your computer or video card causing the problems since the other campaigns work fine. Probably just corrupt or missing components.

May i point out that I am not a simpleton or 60 year old man that can't use a computer.  Naughty I already know about reinstalling and changing graphical or compatibility options. Give me some credit please.  Speak to the Hand!

Repeats the black screen for the loading. That's why i give up.

Got all the latest drivers for your video card and all that? Have you checked for patches? I'm sure PlanetAVP have some links to them on Fileplanet.

Did you check the compatibility of your video card with the game's documents?

AvP is very very touchy.  I don't have Gold so I don't know if Fox Interactive improved on the buggy aspects of the program in that release.  I have the initial release and installation is always an ordeal.  With XP today, you should just try a clean install to see if that helps.
