I love Ripley in all movies, the other ones are:

Alien - Lambert (the only smart one with a great capacity to show horror), Jones, Kane.
Aliens - Vasquez, Bishop, Hudson.
Alien 3 - Clemens, Morse, 85.
Alien Resurrection - Elgyn, Hillard, Gediman.

This is a huuuuge bump, but I'm actually going to post what I think now and then go back and see what I posted originally:

Alien:
- Kane, the explorer, and only person still intrigued by space travel. The only member of the crew that probably everyone liked. If anyone else had been facehugged I doubt as much effort would have been put into recovering them or as much care would have been taken to stop them from choking at dinner.
- Dallas, the guy who doesn't trust anybody. It comes off extremely obvious how much he despises everyone who works for him. He's really cynical and just doesn't give a damn anymore. Is annoyed by Ripley and Lambert. Sort of thinks Kane is naive. Is worn down by Parker and doesn't really have the patience for Brett. Is completely indifferent to Ash and would rather not get involved with any science shit.

Aliens:
- Hicks. Everyone above him in the chain of command gets incapacitated and suddenly he's got to deal with a short timer and a psycho bitch. THEN his lieutenant turns out to be alive and he still remains in command of everything with all the confidence he had originally. He either wasn't really close friends with anyone killed in the initial fight, or just hid his feelings extremely well. I just friggin' hate that as soon as the acid hits him...that's it. That is literally the end of Hicks unless you count the deleted scene later, which I think is integral, but then again after that...nothing.
- Gorman. I'm really interested in his portrayal after he regains consciousness. He has one quick moment with Ripley and then doesn't really say much. He was probably the second most important character during the 2nd quarter of the film and then is completely reduced to almost being Crowe/Wierzbowski.
- Simpson/Lydecker. I'm intrigued by their sort of ass-kisser/worn out boss relationship and how apathetic Simpson is about working in space. Really makes it seem shitty.
- Crowe/Wierzbowski. I'm just plain interested in these characters for some reason, I can't really say why. I'm just always looking for them all the time and watching them in the corners.

Alien 3:
- Ripley. She's trying to seem tough in front of an all male ensemble even though inside she's really frightened of them and doesn't believe in their chances (and probably doesn't care either way). Somehow after everyone she cared about in the last 60 years is dead, she manages to at least pass herself off as a willing and capable leader.
- Boggs/Rains. I'm interested in them partly because they're some of the few American characters in the movie, and I think Christopher John Fields (Rains) is really funny and extremely underused.
- Golic in his deleted scenes. Played perfectly as a psychopathic serial killer. One of the more dynamic characters in the movie I think. He can be blatantly psychotic or soft spoken and almost entrancing.
- "Bishop II" or Michael Bishop, whatever his damn name is. I think out of the three times Henriksen has played a Bishop this might actually be his best performance. Seriously watch this guy; he's really fucking creepy. And THEN he gets his friggin' ear ripped off and still keeps some composure. Also his sincerity in wanting the Alien is pretty gripping stuff.
- Aaron. Also another dynamic character. Sort of an ass kisser of Andrews and just a faceless company man, but he emerges as someone who actually has his own attitude and beliefs, finally coming around at the end and making decisions for himself, although it got him killed. I think his death scene is the best of all, falling off the balcony and then taking a breath in shock. One of my favorite movie deaths ever.

Resurrection:
- Gediman. Man, this character is just hilarious. I don't know what else about him I like. He's just so strange and in love with the Xenomorph species it's almost a bit slapstick when the end comes around.
- Perez. Another hilarious character. I really wish he would've been able to last a little longer in the story.
- Elgyn. Not hilarious, but probably the coolest character in the movie. Again, I would've liked to see more of him and I really would have liked to see how he actually would've reacted if he'd found out what was going on in the Auriga.
- Johnner, again someone who is kind of hilarious. Best line, "Earth, what a shithole."
- Christie, who lasted a little longer but still died too early I think. Another "badass" character, although with a team mindset and selfless attitude towards others which I think was pretty cool.

Some of this is me picking who I think are the best characters, others are me just picking my favorites, ALTHOUGH I didn't write anything up about Hudson.  Thinks Maybe I'll edit this.

You should start a thread for the characters they should have never killed off in each movie lol.  My first pick would be Newt, they play her and Ripley up as a duo so much in that entire movie then she gets killed off.  I love alien 3 and all others that followed but i still try to convince myself that hicks, ripley and newt lived happily ever after .  Cheesy  I even heard that they were good friends in real life too.

I liked Alien 3, but 20th century fox just got greedy.  Weaver should have turned down the role, The clone thing was pushing it too. But hey, they sold me to a movie ticket on both.  Wink

I wouldn't have described Golic as psychopathic, definitely psychotic, but he does seem to have genuine remorse and panic when he murders Arthur at the waste dump, and has affection for certain inmates (Murphy). A psychopath has no genuine emotions for anyone other than themselves, and is a pathological liar, manipulating others for their own personal gain, whatever the cost to the other people, whereas a psychotic engages in highly irrational, ridiculous, insane or murderous behaviour, all the while seeing it as perfectly normal and rational, sort of like dream logic that makes no sense after you wake. His psychosis is accurately described by Dillon: "He's crazy, he's a fool, but he's not a liar!" Definitely not a psychopath. He is one of the most interesting characters in the Assembly Cut, no arguments from me! I like the idea of his worship of the alien as his god and master, especially (the only time such behaviour has appeared in any film, although it's all over the comics).

Quite agreed. And he really is an interesting character.

I have found out already some time ago that the characters I like shift with whichever movie I happen to see the last, so Wink But Aaron definitely is one of the characters I love the most, I could add Morse and Golic and noo, I am already beginning to fall into the trap of naming everyone, so let me stop here. And, while in general I really very often have the "I don't like the main character because it's the main character" syndrome, it definitely does not go for Ripley. I prefer her in Alien/Alien 3, though, rather than Aliens (you can really see her role was downplayed for the most of the film, apart from the atmosphere processor-rescues), in fact (scary for me to say that), I even prefer her in A:R to Aliens (there is this air of uncertainity and the bit of "alienness" in her somewhat).

From the Marines, there are some things which are "obligatory", I mean you cannot dislike Hudson or Hicks or in fact almost none of the Marines. Of those "less obvious", though, I really like Gorman (especially when I last watched the film), especially combined with his "redemptive moment" in the end, it really makes him a convincing character. Similarly, Bishop, though Bishop II is truly my favourite (properly disturbing). Of the more "random Marines" I also like Ferro.

From the first movie, Parker would go for the win (with all the worker-class-but-don't-make-shit-of-me-attitude. Also, imagine how cool would that have been had he just let Lambert go and managed to save himself along with Ripley, I cannot imagine a cooler - and more unlikely - duo!!!), and probably Ash as well (let's face it, he IS brilliant. I am sort of curious if we are going to have some fitting parallel for him in Prometheus, because I'd be very much looking forward to that!).
