Thanks guys.  ...Sorry, I've been away on business since last Thursday afternoon.  ...and whenever I tried to log in to the site I got an interminable delay - So I had to  wait until I got back.

InspectorDC - Interesting view. And one I had not consciously been aware of while creating the piece.  I was thinking about ancient temples and great halls when I had created it.  ...Very cool.  thanks.

CelticPredator - LOL!  Thanks!  And, that's the next direction I'd like to follow: TV/Film.  But at the moment my animation and motion graphics skills are not up to par.  I've been focusing on stills so much over the past few years that I haven't been honing my animation abilities.  ...something that I plan on changing.

Corporal Hicks - Thanks, man!  Much appreciated. The texturing has been a slow process.  I finished the model, got tied up in work, and I've made slow strides in texturing. ...but such is the nature of personal projects.  I've have hung out at sci-fi meshes, and know a few folks who frequent the site, but I just don't feel at home there.  It's  hard to put a finger on, but I feel like I have a hard time fitting in. ...which is ironic since I'm such a huge sci-fi geek.  There are a few other CG sites I frequent, and one I even help mod, but I don't spend much time at sci-fi meshes.

I thought I'd share some of my 2D work.

The first three are done in Photoshop, and were part of a Space:1999 project I was working on.  Any fans of the series will recognize the Black Sun - I took a little liberty with it, but tried to stick close to the original concept.  The purple/pink planet is Piri (again, fans will know what planet this is).  With Piri I took a bit more liberties in an effort to make it look more like a realistic planet (i.e. weather patterns in the cloud cover, mountains, etc.).  The third planet is Med, which was mentioned, but never seen so I had some fun with it.







This was just a random space-scape that I did using Photoshop and Painter.

...And here's some ALIENS related work.  These are patch concepts that I did for the Colonial Marines Charter about three years ago.  The first two were actually turned into patches, the second two I believe became t-shirts.  I had submitted four options for a single patch... the designs were liked so much all four were used.

These were created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.  And I used the patches my father brought home from his time in the US Air Force during Vietnam as a point of reference when designing these.

Ok, I watched Space 1999 as a kid, when it was first run on TV, but that's it.  What's the Black Sun?  Sorry, need to know...

The black sun was essentially a black hole, but they referred to it as a "Black Sun".  It was one of the better episodes of season 1 (IMO)
