I don't get it. He said we weren't supposed to root for the Alien in the prior films and that's justification enough to root for the Predator in this film? If I'm not mistaken the Predator was a bad guy in his prior films?

Anyway, I understand what they're saying, I mean, I LOVE the Aliens, and I WILL ROOT FOR THEM, but if they fought a heavly armed Predie...the Alien is fucked. Period....now, take anway those weapons....mabye have another Alien.....you got one fucked Predie.

I don't recall losing any argument. Anyway, I'm not rooting for the Predator either though. That's where some of you are confused. Like I've said before, if you want to get down to it, Alien 3 and Alien are my favorite films out of both the Alien and Predator films combined. I don't root for any species, even in a "vs" film. I just think it's ridiculous. But that's just me.

SM, settle down my friend. I never once stated that it's a "fact" that the Predators are stronger. You seem to be the one taking offense to this argument. When I said quit whining, I just mean, stop taking things so personal and don't hate on a film you have not seen yet. That's all I'm saying. Give it a chance. If you don't like what you see after seeing AVP-R then fine.

I wasn't being rude. You obviously misunderstand me. I just disagree with you. I'm just excited about the upcoming film SM, and from what I see in the trailer, I think it looks pretty damn good.

On all this alien fans vs predator fans hatred, I'm kind of more of a human fanboy myself. Yeah, ever since Predator and Aliens I root for the poor underdog bastards. It doesn't really matter to me how much aliens or predators own each other. I just wanna see some characters like the ones in Predator and Aliens, or at least a Danny Glover. So far I'm a bit skeptical about what we're getting in the new film, but I'm holding out hope that Dallas and Kelly will turn out to be badass. It boggles my mind the knid of people that didn't want Dutch to win in the first Predator. If I end up rooting for either the Predator or Aliens, rather than the humans, then that's what will disappoint me the most about the movie.

That's exactly how I feel. The creatures are what make the films interesting for sure, but what makes them good is the human characters struggling against them or other themes playing in the background. For instance, Alien, allusions to sexuality and rape. Or Alien³ with its apocalyptic undertones. This is what separates them from simple monster movies.
