Yeah the DE's are the same thing as the SE's. Although my Predator: DE clears up a lot of the grain in the film.

The cover art on these things is amazing too.

Exactly.  'Cept Aliens and I like it kinda grainy.

Aliens has very poor visuals and alot of grain even on my R1 SE edition
plus it wasnt filmed in widescreen originally.

Yes it was. Compare the Pan and Scam version to the 1.85:1 version on DVD, it's certainly not open matte.

You sure becks...im sure Cameron says on the commentry that the film wasnt widescreen or maybe it was something to do with the film quality when originally filming hmmmm I cant be bothered to check it right now hehe

Well, when I first got the Widescreen VHS, I compared the Pan and Scam and Widescreen versions back to back, and the Pan and Scam was cropped on the sides. Henry Krinkle or one of the other more knowledgeable people can swoop down and correct me if I am wrong, but I think 16mm renders a 1.37:1 frame, but in the case of Aliens (it depends on the movie and how they edit it), it was printed, edited, etc all in 1.85:1, therefore the only 1.33:1 version that was made is the cropped one.
