Empire's Aussie counterpart.Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem ()
*/*****
Plot Warring alien and predator races descend on a small town, where unsuspecting residents must band together for any chance of survival
Empire Review The laughably gran subtitle “Requiem” sounds like intellectual weight has been added to the AVP franchise, but the only brains on show are the splattered ones.Even if you are 12, male and not functioning so well in the upstairs department, this second monster mash-up will insult you.
Someone, somewhere must’ve decided the first unnecessary bout between Geiger’s creatures and Arnie’s enemies didn’t cheapen the Alien and Predator series enough, and thus the contemptible Requiem was hatched.
While humans had a remotely logical reason for being involved in AVP – obviously, Lance Henriksen was the only guy who could uncover intergalactic adversaries – Round Two is populated by people simply because the combatant creatures are playing Death Hunt in a dumb-ass American town. To call any of the humans “cannon fodder” is to credit them with way too much worth. Mindlessly violent and entirely bereft of backstory or purpose, AVPR has to be the last gasp for this rubbish rivalry.
Verdict This has to be the last gasp for this rubbish rivalry.

Melbourne Herald Sun DVD review Abominable second entry in this ill-conceived monster stoush franchise. The human characters are utterly disposable, but the most annoying thing about this film is that it's so ill-lit. When you finally get past the rubbish plotting to the smack-down between Predator and Xenomorph, it's virtually impossible to make any sense of the action. 1 star (out of 5)
