really PISSES me off...
I'm a huge collector of the Predator comics (big whoop, wanna fight about it?) and there is a crossover of such that has Tarzan taking on the Predator and at one point of the comic a lot of Tarzan's friends and himself start to use dismounted plasma-casters as a handgun. When I saw this, I wanted to rip up the comic and set it ablaze as if it was a guitar (kudos to anyone who got the Hendrix reference) because that was by far one of the most bullshit things I've ever seen.
AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW IT'S ALSO IN THIS MOVIE!
Wolf used it and later Dallas used it, but why in the hell didn't the Predator just take a damn hand gun with him instead? I know it would make the plasma-caster seem almost pointless, but why not make it as some sort of last stand type weapon like the self destruct mechanism?
How did YOU feel about it?

It was fine. I'm not going to cry about it.

Why is it a bad idea? Unless somewhere it was said that Predator tech includes genetic lockouts or something...it's logical to assume that humans would sometimes get their hands on, and use Predator tech. Harrigan did in Predator 2...

Ooh, I didn't mean it like that.
I was more upset with the fact that the plasma caster can be used like that.

Oh, so you're saying that he used the shoulder canon as a handgun, and you're mad that it can be manually fired instead of fired by remote when it's attached to one's shoulder?

Well as a hand canon you saw that it needed time to recharge, whereas when it's mounted it shoot one round after another with out the need to recharge.

Actually, based on the audio in the movie it sounded like it needed to charge as a shoulder mounted cannon too, but the recharge rate was considerably faster.

Well...the weapon's useless if it's dismounted they way you think it should be. Predator's technology is to advanced for that to happen. I would assume that early on, they probably used lasers with their hands, but then realized that it'd be better to mount them somewhere else so they could hold all their blades and whatnot.
