You're really missing out on how much the world of cinema has to offer. Well when im with my movie going (wierdos more like it) friends im critical, who i did go with to see AvPR. Strangely both loved it as it didnt follow how other movies went, they think we need more women dieing violently in films as well as children. And im not one for thinking deeply i mean come on, I learn about rocks

"Stay frosy people" Corporal Hicks, Aliens.

I have never been so embarrassed before. Went with all my mates - work at a cinema - and they know I love Alien/vs/Predator so despite all the shit reviews and my low expectations, I was a little excited. God. I actually apologized when we came out. I'm writing up a bitchfest for AvPG but here are some keywords: Wasted potential. Underwhelming. Cringing. Apologizing to my friends. Laughter. Gore porn. Funny gore porn. Crying. Sadness. Disappointment.

I'm afraid I'm gonna have to join the band of outcasts that rather enjoyed it. It had me captivated throughout, whether it be because it was getting really bad or good. But Johnny Lewis, Predator power glove and "Dale, shut up, you're too stupid to talk" had me in ecstasy.
I'm too tired to give a comprehensive review right now, but I will later.
And the screening I went too was about 55% full, which ain't great.

I don't think it's a bad movie. It's got bad elements, sure. But a lot of fun doesn't equate to bad. It's a mixed bag, with more goods than the first one served up.

The advantage of living in the UK is that by the time the film hits the cinema, you know from the film reviews and box office of 7 other countries just how bad it's going to be. So you're rarely disappointed!
AVP was a film so bad you couldn't even laugh at it. AVP2 you could laugh at - much of the cinema I saw it in laughed at much of the dialogue - so that's a step up in my view. I enjoyed it more than AVP, but it was still decidedly below-average fare in just about every area (like AVP).
I'm pretty certain that the only person who comes out of this mess with any credibility at all is the actor who played the nice sherrif, channeling Tommy Lee Jones in full No Country for Old Men stylee. I liked that, and it was pity to see it so wasted.
So... not as bad as I thought it would be, although completely mystifying if you haven't seen any of the films before.

I liked Johnny Lewis, and thought he provided the only piece of genuine exhilaration, going nuts at the Predator after seeing his bird get pinned against the wall.
Just out of interest, how full was your screening deez?

Erm... maybe between 30% or 40% full. 6:30 showing on a Saturday evening, so not so good. My girlfriend was the only female in the cinema. To be honest, given the queue, I thought it would be absolutely heaving. But it turned out that most people were buying advance tickets for Sweeny Todd, the clever bastards!

I caught a 2pm showing and there were 5 people there. Including me. I went with low expectations and was pleasantly suprised with most of the film. The dialogue though was absolutely excruciating. Shame Salerno.

it was a 7pm performance on opening night and the cinema was only half full. I don't enjoy video games or teen dramas so most of the film was lost on me. Niehter my friend nor I had anything really that interesting to say about the movie afterwards one way or the other. It was all that I thought it would be when I first saw the clip of the predalien battling it out on the roof and it looked like a dodgy Gillis and Woodruff outfit. Afterwards, I had to explain half the plot to my friend who hadn't seen AvP since it came out in the cinema, first of all, it made no sense trying to explain why a dead Predator should be aboard the ship with a chestburster erupting. He thought that the only way to alter the film to make it more appealing would be to have the aliens and predators team up and kill all the towns teenagers because they were so awful.
