Yes it is  Smiley

Well that's half the battle! Cheesy

So I managed to take a look at the NTSC conversions I did for my father.  I quickly realized why I thought they were ok, after I looked at them on TV.  Back when the conversion was done, I checked how things looked on my old computer.  A 15" monitor, and because I assumed it was fine because it played, I assumed the picture was ok.  Had I played the DVD back on my TV I would of seen the problem.  That being said, I spent a few minutes too many and tracked down this guide.

http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/video/convert-pal-ntsc.htm

I've downloaded the pal and ntsc samples.  They look identical full screen on a 19" monitor.  The guide looks straightforward and easy to use.  When I get a chance, I'll give it a go and let you guys know how it works.

Having trouble burning Dual Layer discs, my PC won't seem to burn them, fuck knows why trying everything at the moment.  So instead of throwing my PC out the window like i feel like doing I'm looking into it.  Fucking typical though, everytime i do something for people something always goes wrong.

I've got a bit of experience in this area.  Maybe I can help.

1.  What type of media are you using?

2.  What software did you use to rip the movies?

3.  What software are you using to burn them?

4.  Where does the burn process fail?

1.  What type of media are you using?

ISO.

2.  What software did you use to rip the movies?

Ashampoo Burning studio 2009, use that to make an ISO and then burn it.  This is the method i've always used and i've not had problems before.  Even my Magic ISO won't burn onto the DL discs.  So it's something thats either missing or somehting i've done.  It's done the other discs no problem.

3.  What software are you using to burn them?

Same as above.

4.  Where does the burn process fail?

After the first buffer...it;s never done this before.  I've even re-installed it, one  thing it did sugest is lower the burn speed.  Thats all good and said for for some reason it won;t let me with DL discs, used to before.

Usind Clone DVD to copy Alien Redix, it's goign to copy it from DVD 9 (Dual Layer) to fit on a DVD 5 (regular) and i will test that, if works i'll use that method untill a proper sulution is found to why mines feckerd up.  Like i said this sort of thing is typical really.  But i'm not giving up!  the rest of the discs are done and sat here it's just Alien Redux your all waiting on now.

EDIT:

Wel i've discovered what the problem is...the new DL discs i bought from Amazon are dodgy.  I tried them on my neighbours PC and he gets the same error, but when tried on his last DL disc it worked fine.  Same with a mayes PC , his software kept asking me to insert a disc.  Money fecking wasted since amazon won't let me return the bastards now they are open.  Will get some more next pay day, sorry you to wait guys, if these feckers ween't fucked i'd of been able to post this week.

When I asked what type of media you were using, this is exactly what I was getting at.  I strongly recommend using Verbatim DL and only Verbatim.  They are hands down the most reliable DL media available.  I haven't made a coaster yet with them, in 2 spindles of 50.  I don't burn like I used to, but I learnt about 4 yrs ago...Verbatim for DL and Taiyo Yuden for anything else!

Noooooo...actually, thank you!  You've got me all warm and fuzzy knowing that this process is under way.

As I said in another post, I've heard of this Alien Apendix material, and am quite anxious to check it out!  And I'm sure the Redux is great to add to the collection. Drool
