Here we can discuss strictly Arnold Schwarzenegger. His films, his personality, his political career. Anything.

I guess I'll pop this question first: Favorite Arnold movie?

Mine has to be The Terminator. It's iconic for a reason. It's his greatest role he's ever done. Total Recall is second place. Wonderful action and, like Terminator, has a cool storyline.

I think I might need to go with Terminator 2, Predator and Total Recall. Altough his best acting is arguably in Terminator 2 with Predator coming in close second.

Schwarzenegger should be lucky he even got himself a career in the first place, I mean if it wasn't for those muscles during the early 80's he probably wouldn't have come very far.

Like. At all.

(purely based on his acting abilities at that time)

Top 3 for me in no particular order: Predator, Terminator, Conan the Barbarian.

Each has good meanings for me. One made me want to join the US Army. The other inspired my best D & D character creation, and the other was just robotically cool ass shit!

Yessir. I can give Commando an honorable mention, as I did have a near life sized John Matrix poster on my way through-out the late 80's and early 90's, where ever I was.

Beach scene, all decked out before he goes to make " All fucking Hell break loose ".

Arnold Schwarzenegger is without a doubt my childhood hero. He is the reason I love movies so much and the reason I still dream of being an action hero to this day.

Films:

Predator
The Terminator
Total Recall
Commando
True Lies
Terminator 2
The Running Man
Terminator 3
Conan the Barbarian
End of Days
Red Heat
Raw Deal

Since he retired summer blockbusters haven't been the same.

Also I defy anyone to tell who else could act through some of the absolutely rediculous shit he's seeen with a straight face.

I forgot to mention Kindergarten Cop as one of my favorites as well. Arnold is actually quite good at comedy, though I'm glad he strung those out so he didn't become a self-mockery.

Aye, Arnold is the man. Top five for me:

Predator
The Terminator
Terminator 2
Conan
Commando

Honourable mentions to Total Recall, The Running Man, Raw Deal, Red Heat, True Lies, Twins and even Eraser (his last good film). I absolutely hated The Sixth Day, End of Days and, especially, Jingle All the Way... I mean, what the fuck Arnie?! What. The. Fuck? That film single-handedly shattered my concept of Arnold as an action hero.

My favourite Arnie movie has to be Commando. I liked Predator more as a film, but God dammit, the only things Commando was missing from the 80s lexicon were prostitutes and drugs. Cheesy as it is, it's so well done, and everybody knew what they were doing was just good old cheesy fun.

Where else can you see a man scalp a dude with a saw blade he throws, whack another dude in the knackers with an ax, then lop off the arm of another guy all in the one scene? Huh? Huh? Nowhere, that's where.

Many of his films are absolutely horrible, but most of them tend to be so over the top idiotic that it flips it around and ends up being awesome, such as : Commando, Raw Deal, Running Man, Total Recall. And then there's his films which are actually good: Predator, Terminator 1 & 2, Conan the Barbarian.

It's a shame he's stopped acting, he could still do fun & entertaining films provided he stopped thinking he was 30 (Ie Terminator 3). He could be an over the top version of Dirty Harry for instance.

Terminator 2 is his best film for me. The shot at the end with him being lowered into the furnace with his thumb up epitomises his unequaled coolness. His second best film was Predator. He single handedly elevated that film from decent but forgotten 80's action flick into a cult sequel loaded franchise.

God bless you big man.

He obviously was great in Predator, but I still think it would have been a cult classic if they had used Carl Weathers in the lead, or another actor with a huge presence.
