Back in the 80's I recorded a cover of the classic Strawberry Alarm Clock single "Incense and Peppermints" off of the radio. It was done buy a band with a female lead singer. I have long since lost my recording of said cover, and I have not been able to find out who the band was that recorded it. I'd love to get an mp3 of this version, but after years of poking around and looking for it I have yet to turn up anything.
It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask: Anyone here have any ideas, or info?

Honey Tangle is the group I think... OK scratch that. Try The Fall or The Adult Net
The female lead is Brix Smith.

Did some searching on Adult Net (after searching Honey Tangle)... Brilliant! And after watching their "Take Me" video on YouTube I think that's them. I placed an order for a really cheap CD single of Take Me with "Incense and Peppermints" on the track listing. I'll let you know in a few days if it's the version I nabbed off the radio all those years ago. I can't believe that after years of searching I post a question here and get a lead in less than an hour! Where were you when I needed you 15 years ago? (+)

North Africa likely. But you never called or wrote!

Hmmm... yeah. Sorry about that. My CD arrived Saturday, but didn't get the chance to listen to it 'til today. That's the version I recorded back in the day! ...Ahhh... the memories! Many thanks, CompanyMan! (+)

Wasn't this on the Austin Powers soundtrack? Or was that a different cover?

The version on the soundtrack is the original by Strawberry Alarm Clock. Personally, I like the Adult Net cover better. It's one of the few occasions where a cover exceeds the original.
