4th attempt I think (+) for 4/5 great tracks (never liked STP personally) My selection today: Skinny Puppy - Yes He Ran - The B-Sides collection* Eminem - Just Don't Give A Fuck - The Slim Shady LP+ Lemon Jelly - The Curse Of Ka'zar - Lost Horizons Ice Cube - Rollin' Wit The Lench Mob - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted Nine Inch Nails - Mr. Self Destruct - The Downward Spiral Not the greatest selection today, but nothing embarrassing. *Great tune - one of my favourite SP tracks, but not with this hangover +Eminem's been cropping up quite a bit on random. I've only just remembered I really like his first two albums. He may be a complete twat, but he is good. Oh, and by the way - the word twat is pronounced with a hard A like AT not a soft a or o sound. I know there's a lot that Americans and British people pronounce differently, but this one REALLY annoys me. It's an insult - it should sound sharp. You pronounce it the American way and it sounds like a term of endearment. I saw Reginald D. Hunter on Wednesday night - an American stand-up - and he pronounced it the UK way. It was the highlight of the show for me.

I found A-R to be a fine movie right up till the Crying Skeletor with Tits showed up.

1) All That I've Got- The Used. I really don't see what everybody has against Emo music. I think this song is really beautiful and well written. 2) Faint remix- Linkin Park. No-one can scream-sing like Chester Bennington 3) Fragments of Sorrow- Kingdom Hearts OST (boss battle theme). 4) On My Own- The Used. 5) No More Sorrow- Linkin Park.

Started playing up on Friday. Half way through The Battle In The Mutara Nebula it just locked up. Reset it. Tried the same track - locked up again. Reset again. Tried a different album - no dramas. Saturday did a Restore in iTunes. Wiped okay. Grabbed all my music and dragged it back to the iPod. Starting copying - locked up. This happened 3 times. Eventually found 'Hold down 17 buttons at once to do an iPod disk check' online. Tried it about 20 times before I could actually press all the buttons at the same time - and it whirred a lot before bringing up the iPod with ! which equates to 'Your iPod is well fucked'. Minimum cost for repairs would be in the realm of $200 (long out of warranty), so I've gone back to the trusty JMC MP3 player. Bit of a step down from 30GB to 250MB, but it's better than nothing. And it's much easier to sync. Might send the dead one to the in-laws in Singapore where it'd be a lot cheaper to get repaired; but since we got the thing free when the First Lady signed up for a phone contract, not in a massive hurry. Coincidently this all happened within days of getting a carkit for the player from a friend from work. Luckily I hadn't paid anything for it and she took it back.

IRT SM: That is kind of worrisome, mine keeps locking up on specific tracks as well. Though it does manage to recover if I leave it alone for a few minutes.

What I was thinking. Too bad about your iPod though! What model was it? (not that it really makes any difference - but I'm curious)

Not completely sure - classic 30GB I think. It was about 3 years old, and with technology being largely disposable these days... That is kind of worrisome, mine keeps locking up on specific tracks as well. Though it does manage to recover if I leave it alone for a few minutes. Mine did that too while listening to BTTF. Got stuck at the start of a track. Left it for a while and it started working again. Obviously if there's anything on it you don't have backed up - back it up now. I tried doing a 'chkdsk /f' through the Windows command prompt. It found errors and said it had corrected them. Not long after though when doing the iPod disk test, the whole thing packed up. I don't know whether the chkdsk did any harm ('cos the sounds the thing makes when you try and turn it on would suggest it's hardware related more than software), but probably avoid chkdsk anyway. Are you still under warranty?

Not sure...how long does the warranty last? I think I've had my iPod for about 2 years now.

Not sure...how long does the warranty last? In my experience of Apple products - 2 months less than the machine Usually 12 months IIRC. ('cos the sounds the thing makes when you try and turn it on would suggest it's hardware related more than software) sounds like the hard-drive. I had one of the original 1st gen iPods, and it did the same. Started freezing mid-track, then starting making nasty grinding noises. That's when I sold it and got a 2nd gen iPod - the first 20 gig ones. That one started playing up, so I sold it and got a 30 gig creative zen, which has *so far* been fine. I just seem to have terrible luck with apple hardware.
