I read pretty good for a 36 year old college educated Vet. And I will see the world in whatever light I wish to, as you will.

Yes I read what you said, and that is why I posted what I did. Re-read my responce about thier being evil in everything but the good in the most.

Or was that too black and white for you?

If you want to toss around black and white, do you really want me to post what I really think?

Because I will, and have no reserve as to it. Ann it will truely piss everyone on here off straight to Hell.

I have a better idea.

Instead of you and I butting heads and whatnot, because that is only going to get stupid real fast. As it is the internet and not face to face side by side in a barroom where sometimes other keep thier trap shut.

I am going to shut the fuck up, and just say this: " This thread is about supporting Veterans, all around the world! That defend democracy and freedom from evil! "

If you do not agree with that, then that is your right, where ever you are from. So, I suggest that you make a thread for it on your own. Because this one is for positiveness!

Chill out guys. No need to get into a useless argument here.

The thread was to show respect to those that serve in the armed services, mostly good people from what I have observed.

I understand SM's point, blind praise being over the top (war and conflict is an ugly business anyway you slice it), but the spirit of the thread, I think, is aimed at the good people that have served in the United States military.

Would you salute German World War 2 vets?
Yes I would even though they killed my great uncle. A lot of German soldiers probably don't want to fight but they fight anyway because they are sent by their leaders. I have heard many stories of German and Canadian vets getting together. Japanese and American vets getting together. Everyone good on this earth should be treated human.

I think SM's point was in relation to those soldiers who have caused war crimes.  The victors were pretty clear that blindly following orders was no excuse for what was done - had these soldiers refused to do such acts, these acts would never had happened.  I've no doubt that in normal circumstances the vast majority of these people would have never done such things, but equally exceptional circumstances should not allow such exceptional acts as using live prisoners for bayonet practice or mass executions.

Thank you.  Not every Axis soldier was a bad guy and not every Allied soldier was a good guy.
