NECA Aliens 7" Alien Warrior

I just picked this guy up today, I'll post some pics once I find batteries for my camera.

Overall, I like him, but I've got some issues. The head is great, I really couldn't ask for more there. The hands, while a bit Nosferatu for my taste, are also good, but the figure has an odd...thing coming out of both elbow spikes and attaching itself to the bottom of the hand. Its not a miscast or anything, but its definitely not anything that was in the movie. It limits somewhat the poseability of the hands, although it doesn't look bad, you don't really notice it. The feet are a definite improvement over the Alien figure. They actually look like alien feet now rather than just slightly rounded feet with an extra toe.

The body, however, is kind of dissappointing. Not only is it a simple repaint of the Alien figure, its a very odd repaint. NECA left a lot of the brown tones from the first figure, and put blue tones over it. From afar it looks kind of cool, but close up it looks pretty bad. It's just a really confounding design choice. Brown and blue don't go together, at least not like that.

Overall, its still a quite good figure, although NECA really could have done better with arguably the coolest looking alien of them all. Just like their Alien figure, it has a few small problems that prevent it from being truly great. I still hope they'll do an 18" version though.

Ooooh, I didn't know they did an Aliens version. I got the Alien one...pretty cool. My friend was playing with it and quoting Family Guy last night. I'd like to get my greasy paws on this Aliens one, since I have always preferred that design just because it was the one that got me into the series and whatnot. I wonder if I will ever be able to find it offline. Online is teh suck, fucking shipping. I ain't paying no 20-30 bucks for an action figure.

It was on the frontpage a few months back, that was where I heard about it. I got my local comic shop to get a few in for me.

 Still waiting for it to show up on this side of the pond. Comes in two paint variations (saw on ebay) - blue tint and brown. Would order it from the States, but the S&H fee would have me paying double!

It's not a lot different if you live in the states, sadly. Most shipping charges for this crap on ebay is like 10-15 dollars. It sucks. I ain't payin' no 30 dollars for a toy, and I ain't gettin' on no plane!

I have both now, and after seeing both highlight jobs, I like them both a lot better, with the blue being my overall preference.

if you are talking about the same detail im thinking of (that also was on the mcfarlane version). it was in the film, it actually where. you can clearly see it on the scene where the alien rises from the water behind newt.

doh. I feel dumb now. Well I still don't like them. NECA should have at least attached them somewhere different, because where they are, they really restrict hand poseability. I feel like I'm going to break them any time I move anything.

well, to be honest i didnt notice myself until i finaly had my mcfarlane figs and noticed that things, then i made a research by watching Aliens, and saw it in this scene. could also be so that different suits had them and some suits didnt. alien types? drone/warrior?. anyhow. i agree they are in the way, they removed the mcf versions elbow joint altogheter!. but i guess neca chosed to place them correct rather than wrong just because of arm movement
