Alien Quadrilogy Question
« on: February 14, 2009, 06:51:01 AM »

I bought the Alien Quadrilogy a week or two ago and there were only eight discs. Anyone know anything about this? If it makes a different I live in Australia.  Smiley

I think one of our British members posted that the newest UK edition no longer has the ninth disc. That might be the case all over the world.

Both HMV and Amazon UK are still advertising 9 disc sets.

There is an explanation for this, you know.

Was the stuff on that disc any good?

Is the disc included in Alien Predator Total Destruction? I have been looking for an excuse to get that. Tongue

I believe all that was on the 9th disc is a cut-down version of the Alien Legacy documentary, and the laserdisc extras...which are navigable as a slideshow. Nothing too important. A nice addition, but you're not missing anything earth-shattering.

This depends on which version you got. A lot of places are selling the Quad in boxes which just have the four SE DVD's thrown in. If you look around I'm sure you can find the proper 9 disc version. I suggest heeding Tryfan's advice and using the internet.

No the Total Destruction one is the same deal. Although it does have the two disc AvP:R dvd which isn't available seperately here. Dunno what the fuck you need that one for but if you like to torture yourself it's coming out March 4th sperately anyway.

I only own Predator one, so it could be worth picking up for P2, AVP AND AVPR...

It's cheaper for you to get them individually. It's only three movies out of eight which you already own.  Smiley

True, I might even wait until I get a Blu-Ray player and get those versions...

The original R4 version did have the 9 disks, but I'm guessing recent versions don't.  Pretty sure there are still 9 disk versions circulating.

Like beckmen said, there wasn't a massive amount of stuff on the 9th disk.  Good stuff no doubt, but there is some repetition after wading through all the other disks.

You forgot to mention various video extras like behind the scenes footage and several out-takes, all available on the DVD version anyway, but that wasn't the point.  The laser disk archives maybe mostly words and pictures but they are very imformative non-the-less.

I never got far through the LD supplements. I have seen some pics from other users on here, though...there are some great finds to be had. But spending hours going through still frames of text with the occasional photo or video clip might not appeal to every fan of the franchise, especially the more casual fans. Seems like a real die-hard kind of activity.
