I felt the style was simplistic, but at the same time noir-ish. It

This is something I'm really liking actually. I sometimes find myself thinking of Blade Runner while reading this. I quite like the noir style that the novel has going.

I didn't really like DNA war at all.  (SPOILERS BELOW)

I think first person narrative is exceedingly limiting.  The author feels the need to add to many new elements to the Alien (aliens rolling like tires for goodness sake not to mention flying facehuggers) and the story is way to formulatic.  You shouldn't be able to pick out whose going to die or whats going to happen by just looking at writing/character stereotypes.  Cool marine is going to live.  Apone clone is going to die fighting.  Butch marine is going to get killed.  Mother vs Son is coing to be an irreperable relationship (blah blah blah), I wasn't even surprised when the mothers followers decided to leave with whats his face.

I don't even think its better than Original Sin.  Despite it being a rehash of the original movie, I like the parts with the terratube people.  (though the story goes to hell when Ripley and Co show up).
