Oh, for God's sake, dudelove. He wasn't saying fuck off if it makes you feel uneasy, he was saying fuck off if you think it's going to be shit based solely on the fact that it's being made. Look at Nel's original quote:
What is so hard to understand about that? All of us feel uneasy about it, we'd be fools not to.
I do understand, what I don't understand is how you condone that as a response to someone preparing for the worst from an Alien movie made under the current 20th Century Fox, their last critically good franchise movie still managing to sour the existing fanbase?

Since when did 'preparing for the worst' mean writing a film off before it had even been made, simply because it's getting made? That's being absolutely certain of the worst, which is prejudicial to the extreme. That's why I can condone Nel's post, and I don't see how you can't 'get' that.
We're all prepared for the worst, because we've seen it happen before. Doesn't mean that any new film will be automatically bad, any more than a studio that's only ever churned out good films couldn't come out with a turkey next film along or vice versa. If filmmaking was an exact science, nobody would make bad films.
On souring the fanbase: Aliens did it (fuckin' bugs!), Alien 3 did it (Hix & Noot!), Alien: Def did it (they killed the Company and gave us the Newborn). The fanbase is a highly diverse group of people who like different things, and you can't please all of them all of the time. Doesn't mean the next film will be automatically bad. Doesn't mean we can't hope that the new Alien and Predator films by Fox will be good (and Predator's track record is much worse!), or expect them to be bad.

Can this wait? I need to do some calibrations

Firstly, in case you are wondering. I did not cower out, I simply have not checked this thread.
deezelboy has pretty much explained exactly what I was trying to say.
It is not a personal attack, I am just having a go at people who dismiss a movie based on nothing but a track record. which can as easily be proved to be right as to be wrong.

That's being absolutely certain of the worst, which is prejudicial to the extreme. That's why I can condone Nel's post, and I don't see how you can't 'get' that. But that's Vertigo's opinion and he's entitled to it. He's not even trolling, he just hates the idea of a prequel. This prequel news is something I didn't want to hear either. We're all prepared for the worst, because we've seen it happen before. Doesn't mean that any new film will be automatically bad, any more than a studio that's only ever churned out good films couldn't come out with a turkey next film along or vice versa. If filmmaking was an exact science, nobody would make bad films. Fuck's sake, don't even begin to compare Fox's shitty output to other studios hits and misses. It's common knowledge Fox is a provider of shit quality. They conciously know they make shit, it's FACT. It's been pointed out by filmmakers the likes of Tim Burton, Alex Proyas and Matthieu Kassovitz. I was talking about Die Hard, which is about one thousand times easier to get right and they still fucked it.

Can we please stop bitching about rights, opinions, etc., and just get on with the direct topic, please?

That was one of his?
Certainly slick. Kinda creepy - dunno if that was intentional. Ultimately though I don't need to be asked twice to drink Heineken so it's preeching to the converted.

Dunno. I found the robo-keg-chick's smile possibly more creepy than the General Greivous robo-bits popping out.

But that's what I'm saying, she went from shaggable to creepy at the drop of a hat. No doubt the onion rings and semen combo will add more to it than a keg of beer would. IMDb page. For informations sake.

Odd, I just got home from a local bar after drinking 4 Heineken and 2 Irish Car Bombs.
Heiny is my drink of choice and Alien never needed a sequel.
