Aliens APC and Powerloader... Made of Paper?!
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:46:49 PM »

After seeing the APC from Aliens made out of Lego I'd thought I'd seen it all... I was wrong. I've been sent word that the APC and Caterpillar Powerloader from Aliens has been recreated ...in paper!

There is even interior detailing on the APC that outlines the combat station manned by Gorman in the film. All this amazing work was done by Matthew Milam who's website Firebrand Creations showcases his work in what is called papercraft. I'll admit I had to Wikipedia the topic to find out more.

There are a lot more images over at Firebrand Creations, including the plasma cutter from the video game Deadspace, worth checking out.

Thanks to Matthew for giving us the heads up.

Sweet Mother of all That's Holy!  That's insane! Beautiful, but insane.

First time I heard of papercraft was when I came across the paper Pulse Rifle.  Never built it, I didn't have the patience for it.

BTW - here's a great vid regarding papercraft.

I can tell it is made of paper though.

Is that the first thing you would have said about it if no one had told you?

No, I would have either said plastic or Styrofoam.

These are incredible!  Grin

It's amazing what cool things you can make with paper, paint, and time. I first discovered the potential of paper craft when I was thriftily prepping props for a Dungeons and Dragons game. Instead of buying miniatures or scenery for the tabletop, I was instead able to construct buildings and easily customizable character icons.

A universe of dark mystery and unfathomable monstrosity lies just beyond the boundaries of our field of vision. In those shadows lurk the Starbeasts.
