Another Robert Rodriguez Predators interview, this time with MTV Movies Blogs: "You really need great characters so that the audience feels they're going on this journey with them," he told MTV's Josh Horowitz. "And I like the double-meaning of the title - the predators, are you talking about the creatures or are you talking about this group of humans that are actually going in there against them. Are they going to kill each other off if there were no predators?"
Rodriguez confirmed that the story will be driven by an ensemble cast and won't take place on Earth. And he's also hoping his version will wash away the taint of the "Aliens vs. Predator" spin-offs.
"Maybe people will forget all the bad sequels and only think this one and the original exist," he laughed.
The 1987 original, of course, featured the machine gun stylings of the current Governor of California. If McG could find a way to weave Arnold into May's "Terminator Salvation," could Rodriguez pull off the same feat for "Predators"?
"I don't know," he said. "That would be really great. We've talked about hopefully seeing if he could be involved if we see there's a place in the script."It would seem the filmmakers are really trying to distance themselves from the last two AVP films. Are we seeing a change of thinking at the studio or is it a case of telling us what we want to hear? Either way there's a lot more talk in the media about this film in the early goings than AVP-R, a film that Fox was very tight-lipped about right until the end, which could be a sign of Rodriguez's freedom away from the studio system. Thanks to dudelove for the link.

My bad, I was going to move it, but I forgot after my workmates and me tok a 2 and a half hour lunch break!
Sounds like he's not a Predator 2 fan. Strange, it looks and feel like the kind of film Rodriguez himself would make.

No sweat. And where the hell do you work?! Construction industry, on a Friday, with a sick boss. I guess Predator 2 is the Alien 3 of the Predator films. Except less daring and not as good!

A change in the way of thinking? Well, having Troublemaker Studios produce the film...would seem to indicate so. But I am a pessimistic, skeptical asshole. So no, I say they are just telling us what we want to hear. As much as I love Rodriguez, I have this feeling of dread. Maybe I have just been burned too many times. No sweat. And where the hell do you work?! I guess Predator 2 is the Alien 3 of the Predator films. It usually gets bad ratings by critics. I remember being baffled as a teen when I read in the Movie Guide book that it got a 'turkey'.

Haha, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. "It lacks the creativity." I love Predator 2, I don't know what everyone's problem is. They just take it too seriously I think. I'm going to come from the perspective of someone who doesn't like Rodriguez. Personally, I find Sin City to be dull and uninteresting. The total waste of Michael Madsen's talent along with the inclusion of the utterly boring Clive Owen only made me want to doze off. I also found Desperado to be pretty laughable and I hate all of the From Dusk Till Dawn movies (a waste of Hervey Keitel's talent this time, what's up with Rodriguez ruining the reservoir dogs?). Planet Terror is the only movie of his I've seen and enjoyed, and it was basically a comedy. I just don't really trust him on it. His other movies that are more serious I find to be just annoying. Annoying is the closest I can come to describing what I think of his style and attitude.

Your problems stem from his directing. Which he is not.

Well, the producer of a movie is technically a higher position than the director.
