Hmmmm, how is Russell Crowe gonna fit into this? Either way, I hope he shoves the famous "Husband to a murdered wife..." speech down an Alien's throat!

Gotta be for real, I'm not overly excited about a prequel. I just PRAY that they really ARE telling a story of the derelict and xenomorph creation in this... otherwise, I don't see the point and would MUCH rather they made a fifth movie which could not only accomplish the same thing (finding the origins of the derelict and so forth) but ALSO at least provide continuation of RIPLEY's story. Cuz let's face it, sure there's a bigger story to be told but, ultimately, Ripley is SUCH a great character and a driving force to the stories, and it just seems logical that now, she's been shaped by all this tragedy and stuff into a strong character with the WILL to go back and figure out what started it all (and maybe even END it all) you know?
Oh well... my extreme disappointment on that end aside, I'm really hyped that they got the man who started it all to come back and breath some new life into it.

I think directing-wise it's the best case scenario we could have hoped for. Aside from maybe Cameron or Fincher returning to the series (with the latter being quite unlikely!). I'm iffy on the prequel idea as well but I'm going to have faith, set myself up for a huge disappointment, and believe that Riddles can pull it off. Actually, thinking about it now, the pre- Alien storyline seems more interesting/doable than the post- Resurrection storyline...

Take a gander at the budget anyone? Could be in excess of $100mill if Scott is on-board. If that doesn't guarantee us a fucked up, nightmarish bio-mechanical world then nothing will!

I reckon FOX will make a big deal of the return of the Alien franchise now that they have Ridley on board and give it a big budget. I'd guess about 150 million*
*If Avatar bombs it will be lower.
