Im wondering if anyone can help me with something. Any ideas who the following Alien film crew members are. I recognize the faces, but cannot put names to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure Jon or Simon could help us out here.

I believe the gentleman on top is Nick Allder (Special Effects Supervisor)
The bloke on the bottom looks damned familiar, but I can't place him.

Cheers Thedus. My first thought was Nick Allder as well, however... The chap on the right is Nick Allder... is it the same guy?... Im really not 100% sure.

That is the photo that came to mind for me as well when I saw your initial post. That's Nick with Brian Johnson on the set of Space: 1999 circa 1973 when he was the Special Effects Director (during Season 1 of the show) (...possibly 1974, not sure, but there were several shots of Nick in that red sweater and Brian in his white turtle neck and sport coat on the set with models relatively early on in the show's production). ...your initial post looks like Nick 5 or 6 years later.

Top shot is definitely Nick. The other guy is unknown to me. Dennis may know.

I know for sure that the guy in the photo is NOT Nick
I haven't a clue who they both are though, sorry..
I'll ask Roger Nichols tomorrow, he might know as he worked at Shepperton on the main unit, they might be from that area.

It's interesting to see how many visual effects techniques from Space 1999 ended up in Alien.

Wow! Replies from Jon Sorensen and Dennis Lowe themselves Many thanks for the help. So it looks like it's not Nick in the top photo... I'll admit I suspected it wasn't, but how can I tell Jon Soresen I think he's wrong? lol. While we are on th subject, can anyone tell me if the following picture is from the production of Alien and if so who are the two gentlemen either side of Nick Allder?

Okay....I'll try again. The new photograph...the guy to the left of Nick is Denny Ayling, Director Of Photography, Miniatures Unit, ALIEN, and the guy to the right of Nick is Neil Swan, Special Effects Technician, ALIEN. Both no longer with us. X

Indeed. Clearly we read the same publications Space: 1999 still remains my all-time favorite TV show. I watched it religiously when it first aired (I was 5 years-old) and the magic hasn't faded! (...I'm still waiting for Season 2 to come out on Blu-Ray. ) OK. After looking at the new pic I can see that the gentleman who I though was Nick in the initial post is not Nick... tho it could be his brother.

I suppose the person in the first photo must have been Nick Allder's stand in to fool people like Jon, when he wanted a day off
