Preach it brother!

If the Alien movies were really about the Aliens, than why is Ripley in all four movies?

I'll give you that the Predator movies are about the Predators, but not the Alien movies.

With all due respect, as I'm not trying to disrespect you at all metalalien, but I've always found that to be a rabid fanboy's wet dream. It's a horrible idea and would degrade the entire series if we all of a sudden found out two of the four films in the series were "bad dreams". You could say Alien ended well enough that we didn't need Aliens just as easily. In truth each film, aside from Resurrection, continued the story in a great new direction, with Alien 3 culminating the Ripley story arch and ending it, for all intents and purposes, with finality. Then Resurrection came along and pissed on all that. But to simply caulk those two films up as dreams while in hypersleep is a lazy and unimaginative cop-out.

I completely disagree. The series can't be more ruined than it is already. Alien3 was a travesty of a sequel. People want to forgive Alien3 because the director did a good job at creating a moody and scary movie. Plus all the actors were doing a fine job. But the story itself, absolute joke.

I would throw out those two movies in a heartbeat. And beyond the die hard fans, I would probably gets a lot of pats on the back for doing it.

Which brings me to my next question:

If you're not a die hard fan, then why are you here?

So you're saying people forgive the movie because it's actually good? The story just sucks...and why is that? Give me something I haven't heard before, please.

And yes, the series could be "ruined" much worse than you consider it to be.

That makes no sense what so ever. The movies are about our first (and continued) encounter(s) with the ultimate Alien. They are not about the ultimate female lead. Alien Resurrection was about Ripley and look how that turned out.

I am a fan of the first two movies, with some respect for the 3rd. I was referring to die hard fans of the last two movies.

Are you serious? I gotta spell out how completely horrid the story of Alien3 is? Would you like me to explain why battlefeild earth is bad while I'm at it?

Along with your weekly itinerary and dietary schedule, yes.

I give Alien3 lots of credit as a stand alone movie. I give it none at all as a sequel.

You going to keep posting that same picture or are you just stupid? It's terrible sequel, but in a complete vacuum it would be a decent movie.

I can go babblefish this into retard if you need me to.

I really didn't intend on starting a flame war so let's just everyone calm down.

It does irritate me, however, when someone posts their personal opinion as fact. Which you are doing. Because fact and opinion rarely coincide. I don't personally think Alien 3 was a horrid sequel. If you do, that's okay, but don't make it sound like if you don't believe that you can't possibly be a true fan of the series. I thought the story was quite original and without, and I'm not making excuses here, so many production problems, it would have made more sense to fans at the time of release. I referenced fanboyism because many fans have a problem with Alien 3 simply because it wasn't Aliens: Part II.

But I do agree about Battlefield! Wink

You know how it goes Hicks, on the internet you can't hear tone of voice or see the expression on someones face.

I will admit it is very hard for me to even consider thinking of that film as part of the series. It was just such a crushing blow to see it first run. To go from two fantastic films that redefined sci-fi to Alien 3...  I don't think I ever recovered.

Oh and just for the record. I like Alien more than Aliens, but that is academic, I love them both. Smiley

Aliens sucks, Alien 3 owns all.

IMO.

The series is called ALIEN not Ripley.

*yawn* It's done just swimmingly without her though, eh?
