Topic: A Third Aliens Game Still a Possibility (Read 4997 times)

Gaming website Kotaku recently caught up with Sega executive Mike Hayes to talk about several Sega initiatives with the conversation touching on their strategy for the Aliens series: "The Gearbox project was moving along," Hayes said, recalling when the decision was made to take Colonial Marines out of the lead position. The game wasn't as far along as Aliens Vs. Predator, which originally wasn't backed by Sega. It was being made by Rebellion for publisher Vivendi, until that support ceased following Vivendi's 2008 merger with Activision. "There was an opportunity for us to take that." Its development progress put Gearbox's game into the second slot, to be released "a good period after" AvP, according to Hayes. The RPG won't be third because "it just wasn't coming along to the plan that we thought."
Might the newly announced, Ridley Scott Alien prequel project be a source of Aliens inspiration for Sega? "We're quite excited about that and buzzing from the news of that," Hayes said. But of the third game, Hayes would only say, " We'd like to think we'll be doing a third project but at the moment we haven't confirmed what the third project will be."I still think an Alien-based role playing game would be an interesting undertaking if executed properly. As long as there aren't any Hulk-sized aliens in it... More at Kotaku. Thanks again to deezelboy.

I won't get excited about it until it's the RPG.

The only one I care about, the only one...Is A:CM. AVP looks like more of the same insane FPS rubbish that we've been getting since Quake, I am not into MMORPGs or even FInal Fantasy-type RPGs, either.

Ok, don't get me wrong. If an Alien RPG was released in the turn-based style of FF, I'd buy it just to record a video of burning it and post it on youtube. That's just wrong. *vomits* I think AvP looks pretty cool, but yes, I'm excited about A:CM. I just want it to be true to Aliens. That's all I ask for. It's all I've asked for since the first AvP in 1999 came out since it was pretty true to Aliens. It's such a simple stipulation... so simple... they'll fuck it up...

Not a fan of RPGs. Just give me A:CM and AVP3 (in that order and I'll be happy).

Can this wait? I need to do some calibrations

Unless skillfully, not only in gameplay but in graphics and all areas, done. I think Alien should stick with the First Person Shooter perspective.
Not saying it would not be good, but I'd rather have a FPS than an RPG involving Aliens. Predators are a whole different ball game but thats not part of this thread.

I've heard that Monolith is going to be making another AVP game: Aliens versus Predator 3. Monolith says it will be on the current consoles including Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Nintendo Revolution but it didn't say PS2. I really want to know.

Are you not thinking of Rebellion, who are developing Aliens vs Predator 3?
If so, no, no PS2 version.

When I think Alien RPG, for some reason I always invision it looking a lot like Mass Effect and even almost having the same play style...but of course have it be a lot more graphic, bloody and downright fucked up.

Morals, ethics, love, hate, sadness, happiness, mercy, hope, fear, all of it has no meaning to them. They are not driven or compelled the same way we are… we will fuck each other over for money, a mate, a job position…they only live to serve the matriarch and the survival of the hive. Nothing more.

Hey, that looks interesting. I wish they would make it. I loved KOTOR(s) and I see it rather difficult to make a good Aliens RPG (after all, you are rather limited when it comes to the enemies... okay, they have these crossbreed bull-rhino-whatever-aliens, it seems, which I would probably tolerate here even though not anywhere else), but if them guys are up to it, I say: do it! You make it, I will buy it. That makes one customer for certain
