Latino Review's first look at Predators
« on: September 28, 2009, 07:00:37 PM »

As we first reported HERE, Nimród Antal is going to direct PREDATORS for 20th Century Fox and Troublemaker Studios based off a script written by Robert Rodriguez.

Without going into too much detail (Hello! We want you to watch the episode!) PREDATORS is considered a reboot and being fast tracked by 20th Century Fox.

PREDATORS is slated to be released on July 7, 2010.

What's the verdict on the script?

LatinoReview was able to take a peek at the draft dated July 12, 2009.

Also Danny Trejo just mentioned that he will be in the film and we can tell you right now that he will play the character "Cuchillo"

Check out our thoughts below in our latest FIRST LOOK episode as our fall season is off to a solid start (just like the NY football teams).

Too see the video click here.

Thanks to the good people over at Latino Review as well as severen76 from the forums for finding it.

Er that sounds shit lol cheesy as hell and the Pred homeworld contradicts AvP2 unless there are hot regions on the planet of course. I hope they don't totally ignore the continuity from AvP2. It obviously isn't the HOME world otherwise there would be pred families and homes eg. society, mentioned I presume, I'm guessing its a pred hunting planet specially selected and used for the hunt.

I don't like the 'humans from across the globe' idea, its too dumb, like a run of the mill computer game, especially as they all have special skills and individual weapons of choice....that is ridiculous, the knife guy, the gun guy, the big gun guy, the spear guy etc...

I also don't like the super predator idea, why super?? can't he just be a predator elder or simply a slightly more muscular predator, this is ringing bells in my ears and bringing up Underworlds lame Michael cross breed Vamp/Lycan Sad especially as he's black colour eg.black = baddie and evil.....
Just an Underworld rip and that looked terrible.

Plus, why only three preds? I wanna see troops of preds, clans, hunting packs etc...
I HATE the sound of pred dogs and pred birds or whatever, jesus christ that sounds lame Sad

Im sure it will be bloody n cool but there's alot of dodgy ideas floating in there.

By Super, I assume they mean large, more muscular, older predator.

Its just a stupidly fancy way of distinguishing him from other Predators.

and yes people usually associate the colour black with evil, so?

I reckon this 'super' pred will look crappy, it will obviously be black in colour and totally different from the regular look, sure it could look cool but on the other hand it could well look utter shite and make or break the film...just like the hybrid from AvP2 which was shite Sad

Why would it be black in colour?? I assume it will be black otherwise they wouldn't call it a super black pred. I just think an elder like the pred2 one would be much better, not some steroid pumped behemoth, we all know how crap the AvP preds looked with extra long dreads, this is the same sort of thing.

As I've said somewhere before I think excluding Predator 2 and the AvP films is wrong, their input and history should be a guideline to keep the continuity going or it all falls apart eg. AvP2 went with a particular look for the pred homeworld so they should stick with that, unless as said its not the homeworld but a 'hunt world'.

Predator doesn't really have guys like as mentioned above, misconception, Billy is a sort of native Indian type who clearly enjoys using big knives or is just good with all weapons and hand to hand. Blaine is the 'guy with big gun' but thats it, the rest are just guys with guns....or maybe different size guns but still just guns/assault rifles.

Dutch, assault rifle
Poncho, grenade launcher and machine gun
Dillon, one or two small machine guns
Hawkins, assault rifle or machine gun
Mac, assault rifle

What they are doing in this new film is totally a computer game outlook to the point of just being silly.

Not exactly like in Predator, in terms of weapons. But as you walk out, the people next to you will not call them by their names, but their most defining feature, aka in this film, like Predator their weapons.

Its just different weapons.

The whole computer game analogy really is out of date, have you seen the complexity of some of the plots nowadays? Have you ever seen the plot behind the Metal Gear Solid games? The Modern Warfare games?

As I said, I think its just a name given to the Predator to distinguish him as the leader, he is after all drawing from Predator, not the AvPs and number 2 which had the elder in it.

Yeah I know computer games are advanced these days in terms of plot and looks on occasion but the whole idea of different guys from around the world each with a different weapon and skill just seems like a SF2/Mortal kombat or Soul Calibur type of thing....a beat em up character list in FPS shooter game Smiley
It just comes across as really basic and not too well thought out frankly, surely there are better ideas than that floating around for a new Pred flick?? just going by some of the graphic novels would be best if you ask me.

The super pred worries me, thats all I will say for now, it sounds childish...like a toy product waiting to happen (T2 Sad )

The only thing that looks good is RR being involved, thats it, if he can make something as high octane as Desperado/Dusk Till Dawn then there is hope but this all sounds more babyish than AvP but with loads of blood like AvP2.

Like Predator.

Which was a 80's action film, and about as deep as puddle.

This is following in its steps, its an action movie, that has just plain silly bits to it.

Plays to a similar tune to Predator imo.

Yeah but that was the 80's when ALL action flicks were dumb gun totting mayhem haha these days we've kinda 'progressed' or supposed to have maybe gotten better with films, plus that kind of 80's lunacy just cant be captured again, it rarely seems to work as well.

You make a film like Red Heat now and it will be long forgotten within days or probably straight to the shops eg.most Seagal, Snipes, Van Damme flicks these days
