. Years ago i came across an article about this scene and someone pointed out that the video evidence segment was just a rumour and officially 'untrue' ..Well this script just proves them wrong  Grin

Gosh, I didn't know anything about it at all. I 'm intrigued to wonder about that article. Perhaps the scan would have just shown the chicken embryo as before.

Dallas - 20 minutes to an hour - more like 2 or 3 with these two.
Ash - Right.

This scene is featured in Terry Rawlings edit script but in this version while looking for the Key Ripley finds video evidence of Kane's x-ray and a clear picture of the creature growing inside. I think you'll find this proves them right.  The scene in question is 173, the start of which is crossed out as being deleted.  Even though the continuation of 173 on the page after isn't crossed out, you'll note there's no notes about Slate numbers on the facing page indicating the scenes were shot, nor on the script itself.

The rumour was that Ripley found video evidence that Ash knew about the embryo inside Kane, back in 2003 i was given some scans from a kind gentleman who was helping me do research into filmed and unfilmed scenes from Alien.   The article mentioned about Ripley finding this evidence but was deleted.  I presented my findings and the whole forum told me it was never scripted and was untrue, etc, etc...well it's right there in Mr. Rawlings edit script, i know the scene wasn't filmed etc it was just nice to know i was right for a change  Wink

I wish i still had a lot of the material from back then, over the years it's been lost.  A guy i used to run our site with in a huff has kept a lot of stuff we've collected and in a childish huff won't give it back.  I gave it him when my PC was dying, we had a fall out and he shut the site down and kept everything.

Sorry, I thought you were implying the scene was shot and then deleted.

Interesting to note that after scene 218 (final of Ripley in hypersleep).  There's a note saying scenes 219 to 228 are deleted.  Wonder if they were going to do the "egg attached to the hull" idea (don't know how they were going to drag it out over 9 scenes), or earlier revisions had adjusted the total scenes down, and 219 was always the final scene.

In the June 1978 Draft theres no mention of where they are out of it's just:

But in the December 28 1978 draft it's Solomons...Interesting though, why the Solomon Islands? if it is the island it's refering to.

Hey xeno

what do you mean with december 28 1978 alien script? what is that script?. how is posible to be a script with writing date AFTER the shooting or filming of the movie, june to october 1978, I think?.

Thank  you xeno.

There is a script to be sold right now in ebay, which is dated december 28 1978. So, you think this could be a trascription of this book?
And, how can be. Being the june script writed by walter hill, this one . alter neing writed by dan oŽbannon?

The book is based on an actual draft so if the ebay script is dated December 1978 (sometimes scripts from ebay are wrongly dated) then yes it should be exactly the same.

The December 1978 draft was written by Walter Hill and David Giler....they did all the rewrites of the original draft after Dan o' Bannon.  The December 1978 draft is online but it's not easy to find....

Where can i find that scrtip online?
And, why Walter Hill were going to write the final draft AFTER the filming?

What i am tryng to know is if that script on ebay could be real, or a copy of the real thing. And my principal doubt is the date. If the final revised draft was june. And that was the shooting script. Why Walter Hill were going to write the final draft AFTER the filming, which ended on october? DoesnŽt make any sense, donŽt you think?, as an expert I see you are?

The date on the particular draft is correct, if your unsure about the ebay script i's recommend buying the book.  But as i said it is correct with the date.

Here's why, excerpt from the above book:

Quote
To Begin: as previously noted in my introduction, the Alien screenplay was an evolutionary effort, one involving different drafts written by Dan O' Bannon, David Giler and Walter Hill.  That process culminated in a screenplay identified as the 'Revised Final Script', which was dated June 1978 -  the month and year in which Alien began principle Photography.  However, during that same production process, a certain degree of rewriting continued on the screenplay.  Most of these changes and/or elisions were initiated for budget/artistic reasons: others, however were generated by ideas offered up by Ridley Scott....All of these modifications were then faithfully logged and collated into Alien's 'Revised Final Script'.  This was dated December 28 1978 the month in which Alien's principle photography came to an end...
