Re: Update on 'Alien Makers III'
« Reply #45 on: December 20, 2009, 03:08:00 PM »

I just emailed Pete to warn him that I'm dangerously close to finishing the third part of the series and hopefully I should be uploading the Flash file around Monday/ Tuesday for Xmas.
The DVD's will be done after Xmas as it's a bit labour intensive and I need at least a full day to get my act together.
I'll use the postal list I've got to get the DVDs off to the usual recipients and that will probably be in the first week of January.
I'll also put the ISO torrent on the net and upload the ISO to Pete so that he can also try to split it for the Megaupload thingy he uses (could be after Xmas methinks)
Sorry about my descriptions as I just broke into a case of wine I bought while waiting for the ferry at Calais, France!!.......

Just a quick note to mention that 'Alien Makers III' is up on my website and thanks again to AxP for hosting these films,  I know it's a bit late as I've been at my Mum's trying to fit in all that grub.

well, gosh, I've just watched it and it certainly gave me a chance to see Giger as a normal human. I liked the way you explored the room at the beginning, and there was a page of Alien 3 sketches that I had never seen before in the museum exploration shots. It was good to hear your voice asking some of the questions too.

I suppose it makes me think about myself being imprisoned by a fixation on the movie Alien and it's creature and then someone such as Giger is far away from that

Hi Dominic,
Giger certainly doesn't seem to be a prisoner to the beast and after 30 years you can understand why.
He mentioned (not in the movie) that he is not in the 'loop' for the next version of the franchise but I got the feeling that if asked he would certainly think about it.

I think he must be especially proud of his museum.

Yes, there is a lot of work he put into that place, his private collection was interesting too of paintings from other artists, and there must have been at least 5 rooms full of his other projects.
I guess it will be time to do a whole film just about the museum on it's own (hopefully done by someone else).

Absolutely fascinating, great job! When you drift around his collection, it's really fantastic seeing it all. There were some paintings I have never seen before, and I have a lot of books of his artwork! I'm especially a fan of his landscapes, I think they capture an atmosphere in one frame that no one in film or literature has ever managed to come close to before. He's a real inspiration to my writing, the biggest one, despite him not even being a writer.

It's great listening to him talk. This is probably the most coherent interview with him that I've seen, a lot of issues were explored. When he's talking about the bar in Tokyo, I remember reading a little bit more about it. He said the last thing he heard was that bar fell into the hands of the Yakuza, and there was a murder involved. Wild!

And, wow. His museum. Absolutely amazing. I would love to visit the place, I really would. It's really amazing to see inside it for once, it's one of my ambitions to visit it at some point.

When the opportunity arose for us to ask him a question, I was incredibly excited. Then i realised I had no idea what to ask him, I couldn't think of anything that hadn't been asked before. Some of the other guys gave some really great ones though.

Thank you drake, I really would have liked to have had another 30 mins with him ( we managed 35 mins in total as he seemed to tire of the subject) but I really wanted to explore his interest in music and other things that had been overlooked in the past. he began to mention his involvement in 'Dune' until his cat got in on the act, his future projects too were going to be explored but in the end I was lucky to have what I got. All in all I think we only managed half of the questions on the list that was prepared.
It seems that most of his energies lie in the museum and I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed if you get the chance to visit as there is a wealth of creativity there.

It was a bit of a rush to get it out before the end of the year so now I'm concentrating on the DVD version that will include a slideshow of 50 photos of the museum and bar that I managed to take after the shoot.

Man, it's times like these I wish I hung around here a bit more. Rusty...I'm jealous, that is really cool. If I were you I'd have the picture framed and up ASAP. I've only got Alien Makers 1 (one of the chaps on AvPGalaxy had an extra disk and was kind enough to give it to me) but where can I find streaming versions of 2 and 3?

Edit: Never mind, I see the other threads.  Smiley

Pete, you have both streaming versions on your own server, I was waiting for AxP to publish AM3 on their own site here but Xmas seems to have gotten in the way somewhere so I have streamed the file on my website.
BTW I've sent you the DVD version of AM3 as I just finished the burning session.
