Dennis Lowe has released yet another fantastic Alien documentary, this time focusing on the fans of the franchise themselves, in a new 93 minute film called Alien Fans. Mike Lynch, Julian Bloom, Michael Seigel, Philippe Carini, Marc Caro, Aaron Percival, Fred Blanchard, Graham Langridge, Bijan Aalam, John Milas, and Dominic Kulcsar all contribute. Thanks again to Dennis and all the members of the community for contributing.

I know several of those who are featured but if you feel comfortable sound off with your screen name here so we can connect the dots.

Michael Seigler is me, third from the left. Its been said already, I know, and I'm sure it will be said again, but what Dennis has done for this community is something truly extraordinary, and I for one can never thank him enough for these films, and for giving me the chance to take part in them. Also, I would just like to say that, for the record, setting this and Trekkies side by side, Alien Fans are the far less weird of the two groups. And how about that ending sequence? I don't know if you've ever seen Satoshi Kon's film Tokyo Godfathers Dennis, but it reminded me of that in a way. I will never see the chestburster scene in the same way again, though.

Who is Satoshi Kon? never heard of him, I have to do a search now....Blast, I thought I was going to have a restful night.

3:00 into this video is what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ndrq4zhZOl0&feature=PlayList&p=FED2E4628827D967&index=22He's a brilliant director of japanese anime films. He's been compared a lot to Hitchcock, and I can certainly see the resemblance in his style, although his films tend to be much quirkier.

I'm Mike Lynch. It was great to put faces to various people in the community. ...And in John Milas' case ( Hudson) - it was good to put a voice to your presence. Gotta say, Dennis - you did a fantastic job. Bravo! Especially with the amount of footage you had to deal with and the acquisition of it from literally all over the world. Thanks, Dennis. It was a pleasure working with you! ...Just curious: did the alien loose it's tail as it blasted out of an air lock? Perhaps stuck in the closing door.

It surprised me how much Hudson actually sounded like Bill Paxton.

I had a feeling it was related to that or the fact that animating a tail can be a royal pain in the ass... especially if it's being key-framed.

I think that Bijan Aalam's story about how Giger became involved in Alien through Dali must have come from an alternate reality rather than this one, but it seemed like a nice well told story anyway. Or maybe it connects in a way that really I haven't read before and still can't imagine.
I'll admit to those who don't know, that I'm the one in the documentary wearing a pyramid on my head

I've just watched the complete thing now. A couple of things I'll mention, Dennis, you managed to put a shot of Giger's "Minon" painting in but you didn't manage to get my "Predalien after Giger's Minon" to follow it, and in the credits, you put my normal name to my face but then had the description of what I do starting with my username, I'm wondering if this will make sense to people who are not site members. I remember your original idea was to just use my username rather than my real name. Of course since this is such a excellent documentary I am happy to have my normal name attached to it anyway, and it has given me the rare experience of seeing my surname spelt correctly.

My fault Dominic, I think when I get into the editing process there's so many things (technical) that get in the way of the normal mental process that these details tend to get put on the backburner and then inevitably disappear in the mist. It's not going to get better as I get older either!
