He is refering to the Date of Alien, not this prequel. The Prequel is 2085, and Alien was 30 years after that.
Alien used to be set around then but he didn't particularly want to lock it down to a certain year back then Ah crap, didn't see this when I posted on the site! Sorry!
well, what's the harm in posting it one more time, it's something to be excited about one way or another

Do you think it's going to be Weyland or Weylan, though? I actually think Weylan would be cool again

"Prequels. Two films." He won't shoot them back-to-back, evidently, but they're developing two films that will build to the events of the first "Alien," Oh, for fuck's sake.

I don't see the 3D or two films as anything bad. 3D is a bit gimmicky, but it doesn't have to detract from the experience at all. And are we seriously complaining about having two new Alien films directed by Ridley Scott on an Alien fansite?

Oh fucking no way!!! Somebody tell me it's a hoax??? But two films, well, that would be rather cool... but of course that makes me worried as well! But if it works out... in the name of all wonder!!!

And are we seriously complaining about having two new Alien films directed by Ridley Scott on an Alien fansite? Considering there shouldn't be enough to show pre-Alien to fill one movie without throwing out what the original movie shows and completely discarding any remaining shred of mystery regarding the film, you're surprised?

Actually, my main complaint is that there are two movies planned, but they aren't making them back to back. Meaning this story that here in 2010 we want to know, won't be told until like 2015. If you plan two movies, make two movies. Especially if the first movie isn't standalone, because who knows what kind of shit can happen (Hollywood financial collapse, Ridley Scott croaks, fucking Ragnarok!) in the next half decade.

The more I hear about this prequel the worse it seems to get. 3-D IMO takes me out of the movie and reminds me over and over that I'm simply watching images on screen, I lose a lot of the immersion I find in standard movie formats.
Also the argument that "It's Ridley Scott, he directed Alien, why are we complaining about another Alien movie from him?" is laughable, bless his heart but Ridley has far more average at best movies than classics. I see no reason to assume he will achieve perfection again.
This entire production comes across forced. Its only been a few years since the last AVP film and they're yet again shoving the alien down our throats. Fox has gone beyond milking the alien franchise, now they're killing it.

So... I'm the only one who is not raging at the thought of 2 Prequel films? Nice.

No, you're not. I'm with you. Plus, Ridley alluded that Giger will be brought in to design a new creature since we can all agree that this old design has been completely played out. I'm stoked So... I'm the only one who is not raging at the thought of 2 Prequel films? Nice.

I would like to view this new installment (or these) as a futur classic. I keep reminding myself that this is the same director that gave us Alien and Blade Runner and other great movies. He always had great visuals and good stories, so I am keeping an open mind about this Ridley Scott movie.

I'll keep an open mind for Riddles. But only just. Seems entirely unnecessary.
