Maybe, but then you'd be making stuff up. Like saying Anytime and Pussyface were brothers.

There's nothing to suggest that, but there's plenty of reason to think Joe, Blondie and Monco are the same guy.

The Mad Max films seem pretty connected to me.

Me too. But Bruce Spence plays different characters in 2 & 3, so if you've got a problem with Lee Van Cleef doing the same in For a Few Dollars More and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly...

I would expect Land to have all kinds of 90s/00s anachronisms.

It does, but I don't think that's Thedus' point.  Land... is set around three years after the dead start to walk.  Day is set around the same period, (the script gives five years after the dead walk, but it could equally be about three).  The chronology of the films is given by the date of the initial outbreak, even though the initial outbreak occurs in the decade each film was made judging by fashions, technology and so forth.  It's timeless, and the stories don't link up in anyway (well, not until Diary and Survival, although you could make a case for Land and Dawn given Savini's cameo), but as far as I'm concerned they're to do with the same outbreak and form a sequence.

Quote
Dawn and Day were made close enough to each other to probably work as the same time period, though.

The residents of Pittsburgh and the shopping mall are going seriously retro in their fashion sense though!  Wink

Really? I would expect Land to have all kinds of 90s/00s anachronisms. Dawn and Day were made close enough to each other to probably work as the same time period, though.

This is why the Dead saga is comprised of conceptual/thematic sequels.  If you try to scrutinize and put them together in a linear fashion you can go mad.  Each one relies heavily on the influences of the time in which it was made.  As a result you get some serious inconsistencies between the films.  They aren't meant to flow like the Star Wars trilogy or The Matrix.  The are individual stories whose only true link are the zombies.  This is made most obvious when looking at Diary as it loops back to a time equal to Night ... and to a certain extend Land as well, since it is showing a world very similar to the one seen in Day - just set somewhere else.  Survival fits into this as well.  In the trailer we see someone using an iPhone (or something similar to it), yet the story seems to be set at a time in a zombie apocalypse similar to Dawn.

Deez - good call on the timing from the scripts.  It's been ages since I read any of the Dead scripts, so I'd forgotten that.  Thumbs Up

Scarily enough, the date of the outbreak is given in Day as well:

Try to tie that in to the other movies and you will definitely go mad!

P2 is standalone Smiley just a story in the epic pred universe my friends, and I'm glad Predators is a standalone too Smiley brilliant stuff, this is why they could make lots of pred films and I wish they would...or at least afew more. You could make some more decent ones set after Predators that come before AvP plotwise/timeline.

I agree.

Films in the ALIEN universe could be stand alone films as well... too bad they haven't felt this was a worthy enough path to follow with that franchise. Not that I don't love ALIENS and ALIEN3 ('casue I do), but additional films could easily be done set parallel to the timing of ALIENS, ALIEN3, or even ALIEN and still have them fit within the given universe.  We don't need linear sequels, and if any franchise could work this way it's the ALIEN franchise.

If they do make a fifth alien film to conclude the events in Resurrection, it needs to be standalone, and not reliant on the other films. But there could be certain cameos in it for the hardcore fans that wouldn't necessarily make sense to not-so-hardcore fans. Cheesy

Any chance of an Alien 5 tying into Res are slim to none. There'd be a higher llikely hood of connection to Prometheus.

As far as I know, the director of Predators intended for us to IGNORE the events of Predator 2 and the 2 AVP films.  Meaning they didn't happen.  This is absolute crap as far as I'm concerned.  There is absolutely nothing in Predators that gives any reason for us to say those films didn't happen.  The director didn't like them, so he doesn't want to acknowledge them.  Well too bad for him.  lol

My chronology of events is:

Predator
Predator 2
AVP
AVP 2
Predators
Prometheus
Aliens
films

Works fine and there is nothing in Predators that contradicts any of the other films, so they ALL happened.  Poo on the director.
